what are the steps to take if you think you had idenity fraud?
I tried to open an account with a credit union and my SSN showed a delinquent fee in someone else's name but my SSN, so now I am concerned about what is going on with my idenity.

That is one of the first signs of identity theft!
At work, we give callers this number. It is the identity theft hotline. Good Luck!

This happened to me. Someone bought cell phones will my info.
Run all 3 credit reports..www.equifax.com. See what you find, any collections notices, credit cards that aren't yours, previous addresses that aren't yours. If you find anything fishy, place ID theft alerts on one of the credit agencies and they will notify the other 2. Then take it from there.
I have the 3 in 1 monitoring system. I locked my credit report so it can't be pulled, that way no credit can be issued in my name. I also get emails if anything changes on my credit report. A year later, all is well and I caught it early and will catch anything else due to this monitoring system.
FM if you want to know anything else.
