What are you doing for halloween?
Activities and party ideas are needed.

Re: What are you doing for halloween?
Luckily I'm going on a trip to the pumpkin farm that day, when we get back its Costume Party Time. Having the kids bring juice and chips/snacks.
Maybe read some scary stories.
Its a really fun day to look forward too.
Sorry I don't have any school-based activities/lessons for you.

Re: What are you doing for halloween?
Another teacher ordered pumpkins for her class and mine. We will put them in the "magical pumpkin patch" behind school and the kids will get them. In the afternoon, they will trick-or-treat from classroom to classroom (I work in a 7 classroom special ed unit). We will finish the day with a little party and some dancing!

literacy parade - probably a few pumpkin activities i.e. sink or float, measure our pumpkins, paint a pumpkin, guesstimate the seeds, etc.

Re: What are you doing for halloween?
probably not much. we got a memo today that said "Parties are inappropriate". Plus I have some kids who don't celebrate for religious reasons. I will probably give out candy at the end of the day to those that want it and I may do something fall themed one period just for fun - I just have to think of something!

Re: What are you doing for halloween?
We are doing monster cupcake decorating, the pumpkin picking, i usually dissect a pumpkin and have them feel the guts..bake the seeds over the weekend...with older kids, i had them write descriptive words/poems and guess the number of seeds in the pumpkin..we are going to sing some songs, parade our costumes, do a couple of sheet (eeks!) and probably read some books..they are going to be NUTS that day, considering it's a Friday as well...

Nothing. We're not allowed to do anything related to Halloween.

Re: What are you doing for halloween?
We aren't really allowed to do too much either, so some of my colleagues came up with "Math Masquerade" instead. Centers involving math and halloween are rotated through (i get parents to run them). This year I have estimating with plasic bats (how many do you think you can grab, how many did you actually?), graphing a scoop of spooky stuff (mostly erasers and rings) from a plastic pumpkin, weiging baby pumokins on a balance scale, using geometric cutouts to create a jack-o-lantern face, ummmm I can't remember the rest! HTH!

Re: What are you doing for halloween?
i usually have a halloween activity where they stick their hands in a bucket and feel things such as a monsters brains (spaghetti), hearts (jello hearts), eye balls (some kind of round candy), etc...
