Not sure yet. I just hope I can convince them to watch it at home next week - I'm in the DC area, so we have the day off.

Re: what are you doing to introduce the inauguration this week?
i printed some activity sheets off of time for kids. check it out. the current issue has a cover story about it and there are worksheets and lesson plans to go with it. my principal is going nuts trying to get the entire school to see the inauguration. not sure how she is going to do it. but i hope she does.

I teach HS English and have the ELA's next week....I'm worried about that and have told my students to watch it at home. Their SS teachers will be discussing it with them.

REQUIRED? that's a bit ridiculous. I bet if john McCain won, it wouldn't be required.
I mean, I realize the historical impact of Obama's inauguration, but I think schools are doing too much of promoting particular candidates and viewpoints. JMO.

I am in NYC and we are having an inauguration parade...each class was assigned a president and the whole school will watch the representatives from each class march last period.
Maybe you can pick a few presidents to learn about and have a mini parade in your class?

what an amazing idea! it's probably too late to do it at my school. was each class given particular questions or activities to do with their president?

I don't think that it has anything to do with the candidates...I bet there are a lot of the people who require things done on the right end of the spectrum. That being said, I remember the election and inauguration of Ronald Reagan beng a big thing in my elementary school.
