What are your favorite/most valuable pregnancy books?
We're going to start TTC this month! I wanted to try to start buying pregnancy books.
Which did you find to be the most valuable?
I know that a lot of people recommend What to Expect When You're Expecting as a good informative book, and Belly Laughs as a fun read.
What others do you recommend, and what type of books are they? (e.g., informative vs. a good laugh, etc).
TIA Happy and healthy 9 months to you all!

Hands down, Your Pregnancy Week By Week. I did NOT like What to Expect at all - so much of the "advice" seemed incredibly antiquated to me.

I have "i'm pregnant!" which is a DK book (the same as the travel guides). I like it because it has lots of pictures... I thought "What to Expect" was too wordy. This from an English teacher...

I agree on skipping Girlfriend's guide. There were parts where it just freaked me out, like it was inevitable that all this bad stuff would happen to you when it really didnt.

Re: What are your favorite/most valuable pregnancy books?
I like Your PG week by week. It's informative and concise. I have What to expect... but to be honest I forget to read it. It has too much information in my opionion. I heard it would freak me out, and that isn't so much the case, Its just that I don't have time. It's probably a good reference thought.
I also have girlfriend's guide, which I liked. It was fun to read and I plan to write something in it and pass it to my next girlfriend who gets pg. I just started belly laughs and I am sure I will love. Finally, I just got Baby Bargains, not a pg book but definitely good to get while pg so you know what to register for. I had Bridal Bargains and I loved it so I am sure this will be an essential.

I love Your Pregnancy Week by Week. I also read What to Expect What You're Expecting, but I like the first book much better!

Re: What are your favorite/most valuable pregnancy books?
what to expect was only helpful to me when i had a question. yes, some of the advice was antiquated. but most of it is sound. don't read it cover to cover, you'll make yourself nuts.

Re: What are your favorite/most valuable pregnancy books?
Since you are going to start TTC, I would highly recommend Taking Charge of Your Fertility. You will be amazed at what you don't know about your body!!! It also will teach you how to chart if you decide to do so.
Good Luck!

Another book that I thought was good was Fearless Pregnancy. It's especially good for people that have had miscarriages or issues getting PG.
