Would love to know this as well
Dh and I drove through Huntington Bay and there are a few small (and I mean small) beaches there that were cute and you pay like $25 for a season pass.

Welcome to the neighborhood!
Robert Moses is the better beach but on the other end of the island.
North Shore is rocky beaches for the most part. There are local beaches you can get a parking pass for - Crab Meadow, Ashroken, a few more in Huntington Bay, etc. Depends on where you live.

Yeah...the town beaches require proof usually that you live in the town. There is Crab Meadow which is in Northport and probably my favorite. Then there is West Neck beach which is in Lloyd Harbor area.
But you can get the empire pass which would get you into Robert Moses BUT also Sunken Meadow. Again, rocky but big. I love SM because if you walk east, you can have this huge stretch of beach to yourself.

West Neck Beach is great for the kids...I havent been in ages and I miss it..
You have to get a town beach pass that's good for the summer...(you can just pay for the day but it's almost as much as the pass)
At Robert Moses you can just pay for the day or get a pass..

Re: What beach is best to go to living in Huntington?
I think the daily rate is $8/day. The pass gets you into RM, Jones, Sunken Meadow along with various parks, too. Also, it's a NY state pass so it can take you into places upstate, too.
You can also get into the twon beaches (again, bringing proof if you have not changed your license over) and they will give you a daily rate, too if you don't want to get a pass.
Residents' parking fees: seasonal: $25, daily: $10. Non-residents' daily parking fee: $15. The seasonal permits can be purchased at the entrance of any Town of Huntington beach

I go to centerport beach or fleets cove when I just want a quick trip... they are tiny town beaches but always pretty empty, especially during the week.
