What Brand Baby Food?
What brand baby food do you use? I'm using the Gerbers or Organic Gerber for Stage 1 and it's time to switch DS to Stage 2. Should I stick with Gerber or is there a better one? Gerber seems to have a lot of sugar in their food?
Do I still need to feed him oatmeal at breakfast? Are you supposed to switch to another grain or something?
Sorry... so many food questions. Just when I think I get it down I'm at a loss again. He's now loving his baby food so I know it's time to upgrade to something else.
BTW... he's just 6 months.
TIA

I use Sprout Baby and Earth's Best. For some reason DD never liked Gerber and I really like the combinations that Earth's Best offers.

Thanks! I've been in there b4, but they're pretty pricey. Are they reasonable for baby food or should I just get it at Target?

I had no idea about Wild by Nature. That is 5 mins from me. I get it at Waldbaums and BRU. I went to Pathmark the other day and they didn't carry it and Stop & Shop had a very small selection.

They are insanely priced for a lot of things I agree, but are normally priced for baby foods yes...not nuts like the rest of their stuff!!

Re: What Brand Baby Food?
We fed DD Earth's Best, mostly.
As for the oatmeal- we always did oatmeal, and never switched to another grain.

Yup 5 mins from me too, and I literally would only go in to get her baby stuff and they have a nice selection of Dr. Praeger stuff that she likes so I get some there

Re: What Brand Baby Food?
I used Ea rths best and was sooo disappointed...so I stopped using it.I found black crap coming from the lids....I also found many jars in stores with crap on them...unknown gunk. The company was not that helpful re these matters....when I contacted them to alert them of the conditions of their jars. Also I found their purees were wayyy tooo watery.
I switched to Gerber Organic and was sooo much happier with the quality. The purees were so much thicker, I liked the consistency better. WHat makes you say Gerber adds sugar to the food?

I know it doesn't have added sugar, was just wondering. DS loves the Gerber Stage 1. I never looked at any other brands so was wondering what other pple's thoughts are. Thanks for the info.

Re: What Brand Baby Food?
I always used Earth's Best for everything. Stage 1, Stage 2 and all cereals. Now that she is 100% on solids she still eats Earth's Best cookies, cereal bars, juice etc.

Re: What Brand Baby Food?
I used a mix of Earths Best, Gerber Organic and Sprout. DS seems to like Sprout the best.

Re: What Brand Baby Food?
I use Gerber Organics for her fruits and veggies and the meat mixtures. Although I've been starting to give her real table food meat.
I use the Earths Best for her breakfast cereal. My daycare does not allow glass jars which is why I use the Gerber since they are plastic containers and it's less for me to wash at the end of the day. Otherwise, I'd be inclined to use Earth's Best

Re: What Brand Baby Food?
We used Earth's Best from Stage 2 on. I would have used them from the get go but didn't do my research!
We rotated oatmeal, rice and the mutigran (barley?) cereals.

Re: What Brand Baby Food?
We tried to make most of DS's food, but when we're out, we use Earth's Best.
Jandi's in Oceanside also has Earth's Best. I was in there last weekend and many of the jars were on sale for $.79. I went to Wild By Nature for the first time last weekend too. They have a great selection of organic food.

Re: What Brand Baby Food?
I used gerber for both my DCs...I only found the "dessert flavors" had sugar in them..which was not a lot of them! The reg fruits and veggies were pretty basic ingredients

Re: What Brand Baby Food?
we used plain old beechnut... ds HATED gerber veggies (they were alittle grainier) and to be honest the plastic container is 1/2 an ounce smaller.. he went through 7 jars a day so we really had to watch the expense of baby food... pathmark always had awsome sales on beechnut so that is what he had... add in their rebates and i was set
