What can I do to help Colin with his night gas???
I feel so bad for him. Last night I put him in the co-sleeper, swaddled in the Miracle Blanket, at 8:30PM. He woke up at 12:30AM grunting A LOT, but eyes closed - really very aggressively trying to break out of the swaddle. I unwrapped him thinking maybe it would help him get his gas out - he just continued the grunted, kicking, arm waving. I took him into bed with me and the entire night he was kicking and grunting.
Is there anything I can do? I give him mylicon before bed, I try to rub his belly while he's sleeping and grunting. Should I continue to swaddle or move on to sleep sacks? Do you think I'm making it worse having him in bed (I think I'm comforting him but what do I know)? Sometimes I put him on the breast even if his eyes aren't open thinking that will relax him enough to get the gas out - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Any suggestions?

We're in the same boat...as you know.
I'm giving Lola pro-biotics. She is successfully getting the gas OUT now. Last night at 12:30....WHOA! You had to hear it!!
We go through the grunting as well, but she's been getting it out by herself now.
I'm also consistent with Colic Ease before I nurse her every time...even during the night. That helps A LOT IMO.
And also what I have been doing when I nurse her....I try to "compress" my boob as much as I can so when she nurses she is sucking out more of the hind milk. I have a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance so I have to be conscious of how she nurses. Doing that the past few days has also helped with her gas.
Grab the book "The Womanly Art Of Breatsfeeding" by the LaLeche League....they gave me some good pointers on how to help the gas by nursing better. (you'd think having done it with DD for 16 months I'd know better! )

How do you know you have an imbalance?? I did read on La Leche league website yesterday, when I was trying to google for help for him , that one woman would nurse off of one breast all night so baby would get all the hindmilk.
What are pro-biotics? And OTC thing or from the MD?

I use these pro-biotics....they are the GOOD bacteria that help aid in proper digestion.
LINK I ordered them on-line
I only nurse off of one breast anyway...but I know that if she does not nurse for long enough, she gets too much foremilk (green poops, gassy fussy)... so I've been trying their "technique" to help push down the hind milk.

Re: What can I do to help Colin with his night gas???
DS was EXTREMELY gassy the first few weeks. I think his stomach is maturing because he doesn't kick and cry like he used to. He does wake up farting like crazy though. I give him Mylicon and burp him a lot. We stop in between the feedings every 5 minutes to burp him while BF or when we use a bottle. I also find that burping him while he is sitting up helps rather than on the shoulder. We would also walk with him holding him high up on our shoulders. He would fart up a storm when we would do that. We also would make sure to NOT let him go to bed without burping or passing gas at least once.
