what can we do on ds's 1st bday if it rains?
josh's 1st bday is on friday and we want to do something fun and special but it's going to rain. we were thinking about the bronx zoo but that's out.
any suggestions? we live in queens but willl drive about 1 hour tops.

I took DD to Once Upon a Treetop on her birthday. Just the two of us went and she had a blast. It's pretty dead there during the week too.

i've never been there. can you just go whenever you want or does it have to be a scheduled open play time?

I believe they have open play everyday during the week. It's usually 10-3 or 10-5. Check the website onceuponatreetop.com

ugh i checked once upon a tree tops site and their free play is most of my ds's nap time (12-2).
any other suggestions?

Try to nap him earlier? I don't DS napped at all on his birthday

You could always go from 10-12..that's plenty of time! They have a room you can eat lunch in also, then he could nap in the car?
Some other ideas..hmm, Orly's Treehouse has open play all day everyday. I think it's from 9-5 or something like that!

My DD ADORES My Gym. I am not sure where they are on LI. 
There is one in Fresh Meadows! Plus if you call and say you are thinking of joining they will let you sit in on a class for free- they are so much fun and they really don't pressure you much to join afterwards. They only gave me a two minute talk and I am still thinking about it. They have a free play at 5:45 on Fridays!

How about ChuckEcheeses' that's where we took DS on the day of his 1st birthday. We wanted to take to the Queens Zoo but it rained on the day of his birthday so we went to chuckECheeses and he loved it...

thanks, we love my gym too! we go every other thursday at 2:30 with a mommy group i belong to for only $5 for 1 hour of free play. they have it on every other mondays at 115 too if you are interested. it's cheaper than paying for a class.
i'd go on friday but we only have from 2-5 b/c then it's nap and family party at night.
