What Covid-Era Changes Do You Want to Keep
Since Covid, some things have changed -- for the better! I hope these continue even after we go back to "normal". My favorites are:
-- Zoom PTA Meetings. There's no reason why we need to drive to the school at 7 PM. I'm OK listening on my phone!
-- Not kissing people hello/goodbye!
What does everyone else want to keep?

Re: What Covid-Era Changes Do You Want to Keep
Working from home at least partially for those who are able to and want to. My company was against this for years despite the fact that it was embraced by most others in my industry. They have given us props for remaining productive since shutdown so hopefully they will be more open to the idea post- COVID.
More options for remote courses in universities. I have been back as an evening student and love the flexibility.
More people supporting small businesses

Re: What Covid-Era Changes Do You Want to Keep
Just the idea of personal space in general. I hate when people breathe down my neck- not so much for germs but I just like my space.
People used to stand right on top of you as you checked out at the store, or enter your debit card info on the machine.
They would be breathing down your neck practically.
At the beach, there can be a whole wide beach open all around and they set their blankets and chairs up RIGHT ON TOP of you.
Stuff like that. Like stay the eff away from me!

People washing their hands after using the bathroom!!! Why did it take a global pandemic for this to be "the new norm!"

For my husband: working from home For me: less crowds in places. I haven’t been out but I know from others places are less crowded and I would love that
Hopefully better courtesy. I’m on a FB page where a poster stated she was upset her sister uninvited her to thanksgiving because her kids had colds and the poster was mad that it was “just a cold” people really to respect others and not knowingly get others sick. You are sick stay home. No matter what. I really hope people get better with that

Re: What Covid-Era Changes Do You Want to Keep
1) Crowd controls at the Trader Joes! Shopping there has been amazing since Covid started. No one pushing and shoving me, I can leisurely walk down an aisle and actually see the products! I would continue to wait up to 20 minutes in a line, if they kept the flow in the store even and sparse....
2) and I agree with the PTA and School Board meetings being online. so much easier to manage!!!
3) The purell and extra cleaning procedures in a lot of places.
4) Being able to work from home more often/flexibility in that...
5) Weddings kept under 150 people!!!

The empty middle seat on the plane.
I flew back in May and it was wonderful to have space. I know it won't happen. But it would be great if it did.

Definitely personal space. I'm not saying I always want to wear masks but the thought of people breathing on me even post-Covid gives me anxiety.
Luckily, I got a new position during the pandemic and I'm working from home permanently. No more LIRR or subway!

People staying home when they are sick, even if it just a cold. At the height of a bad cold, you feel miserable, are coughing and sneezing, congested, sore throat. Nobody should be going to work, school, or social events feeling like that.
The 6 feet apart in public rule. For sure!
Believe it or not, smaller holiday gatherings. We did Thanksgiving, just me & DH with the kids, and my MIL & FIL. It was the best Thanksgiving we have ever had. After dinner, we went outside and had dessert around the firepit. My FIL played guitar for the kids. After they went home, we all got in pajamas and snuggled on the couch by the fireplace and had family movie night. I would love to make that a tradition.

Re: What Covid-Era Changes Do You Want to Keep
so many already listed... * personal space in public * stores with less people - i actually like going to costco since covid * no hand shaking * more support for small businesses * smaller events * better crowd control * more people working from home, so there's less traffic for those of us who must go in to the office
two things i know i'll be doing more... online shopping from small businesses and getting as much as i can delivered. having been out of NYC for so long, i forgot how convenient it is to have the pharmacy deliver my prescription. back when i was pregnant with DS, i worked at a small pharmacy and we delivered. how did i forget how awesome something like that is.

What Covid-Era Changes Do You Want to Keep
- Smaller family events. I'm really looking forward to nice and quiet Christmas... both sides of the family usually do big groups/parties and every year I hate it more and more lol. It's so hectic to watch the kids and it's definitely not relaxing at all. That's definitely something I wish we could keep around!
- Working from home. I love that dh is able to work from home and bring dd to school and pick her up. He's able to get the laundry on and work on prepping food for dinner which is awesome. Feels alot less stressful at the end of the workday
- Spending less $$ on gas for our cars
- Spending less $$ on babysitters- because dh is home now, we don't need a babysitter before school and don't need to pay for any before or after care programs for school
- Having time to spend with DD. because Dh is able to do a bunch during the day now, we've had more time for board games and other random activities to do together. Things I would never have the energy or time to do in the past.

What Covid-Era Changes Do You Want to Keep
Zoom PTA and Girl Scout Leader meetings. I Am always in a rush to get to the school by 7PM, and sometimes I barely have time to throw dinner on the table before leaving. Now, I just walk downstairs!
I hope this doesn't sound selfish, but I love not having my kids in 46 after-school activities. I love not having to rush getting somewhere, rush to do HW, rush to make dinner... I love just having one after-school activity in my home- Religion.

Wearing a mask during cold/flu season on mass transit. Ewww thinking about all the people sniffling and hacking right next to me gives me the creeps.
I’d like to work more from home although I think I need to go into the office once a week for mental sanity.
I enjoy the extra time we’ve spent exploring local state parks. There’s a lot of beautiful free places on Long Island to go for a family walk and get off the screens.

I remember last winter I was on the train to NYC for a work meeting and then an Xmas party. Everyone on the train was hacking up a lung. It sounded like a tuberculous ward, no joke. Then I get to the office and it's packed and I had to share a work space (which was kind of like a diner booth with a table between 2 benches) with someone who was hacking up a lung as well as he sat right across from me. I remember thinking- if I don't get sick today, it will be a miracle. I swear I wanted to hand everyone some Vitamin C ,Zinc etc and say- get your immune system in order! LOL So yeah, I hear you!

Curbside pickup is amazing! I have 4-5 babies/toddlers (neice&nephews) with me daily and it is so great to get my shopping done during the day when needed.
I’ve always been a major germaphobe so the no kissing/hugging anywhere and people finally washing their hands! I hope that all stays!

What Covid-Era Changes Do You Want to Keep
-No more kissing, hugging, and shaking hands. -No more in person PTA meetings. -People staying home when they're sick...which should be done in the 1st place. -Making people wait outside so the stores are less crowded. -Curbside pickup. -Less social gatherings and parties. It's been nice to spend more quality time with my family.

Drop off and pick up line at school
At my son's school you used to have to get out of the car and walk them to the door. Same thing for pick up. They now have a person with a walkie talkie call for the students when they see the parent drive up. It is very efficient.

Re: What Covid-Era Changes Do You Want to Keep
Definitely personal space. I can't see myself ever going back to greeting people by kissing, hugging, and shaking hands with anyone outside my immediate family or at gatherings again. It always gave me anxiety to begin with as far back as childhood. I'll never have to do that again!
More work from home flexibility for those that want to and are able to.
Curbside pickup.
It won't happen, but I like having movies straight to streaming as an option.

Just yelling hello and good bye is the best!
I love Zoom meetings. I don't miss the hassle of commuting and stressing to get to meetings.
Curbside pick up is the bomb!
