What Disney Rest would you rec that are kid friendly (but NOT character meals)?
Any restaurants that are interesting to kids, and kid friendly, just minus the characters?

Sci Fi Dine in - fun atmosphere Whispering Canyon Cafe - fun atmosphere and somewhat interactive. I've never been there Teppan Edo - They do a great show and pay a lot of attention to kids 'Ohana (dinner) - Activities for kids like hula contests and broom races, lei's, etc.

These are good choices. I would also add:
Coral Reef for the fish (if you child enjoys aquariums etc) Biergarten - band and dance floor - all the kids were up and dancing. Marrakesh
Have you considered a dinner show?
DD#1 has several kids in her class to go to WDW 2-3 times a year. They say that they have fun going to Hoop Dee Do Review or the Luau?

I have been to both as a kid. Love Hoop Dee Doo, but think DD may be a bit young for it?
Luau DD may like but also could be bored. I was bored with this as a kid.
I did look into Mickeys Backyard BBQ but you eat outside and I am not sure if I am into that.

I have been to the Sci Fi. Like it but it's a bit too dark for my tastes. I did make a ressie at 50s Prime Time cafe, prefer that over Sci Fi.
I did make a ressie at Ohana for dinner.

I don't know we didn't do them in the past because we thought they were too young - but the ones who are going who like it have 4-5 year olds and 1-2 year olds. If it wasn't such a pain to get to Hoop Dee Do Review without a car I would consider it for our next trip. Wish it was somewhere more convenient.

When i went, we were staying in the Contemp and we went over by boat. I wonder if you can take a boat from the Poly to there, or do you have to take the monorail to Contemp then the boat from there? Hmm.
I have been to Hoop Dee Doo 2 times, maybe 3? I have always loved it but thought it was more adult/teen humor.

Any restaurant except for some of the signatures are kid friendly. I have to say most of the restaurants are pretty quick getting you in and out. DD does great in most of the restaurants. All the menus have activites and coloring on them so that takes up some time and by the time she's finished with the the food is there! : ).
Some of our favorite "non character" are:
The Plaza - great sandwich place - quick and sometimes the Mayor comes in and does some cute things with the kids. The Whispering Canyon - the waiters are very animated and play some games Kona - Always had a good meal and DD likes looking at the waterfalls and I think they do hula dancing in the lobby in the late afternoon. Wolfgang Puck Cafe - Downtown Disney - quick service, great food and they had smiley fries for the kids which my DD LOVES. Biergarten (sp?) - they have a show they put on that is cool, not sure of the kids menu there though
I think the Hoopdee doo Review and the Luau are little to old for my DD but I have heard that the backyard bbq is alot of fun. You would need to take the monorail from Poly to Comp and then take the boat.
