What do contractions feel like vs Braxton Hicks?
My lower stomach has been hurting for the past two days on and off... kinda crampy... I keep thinking maybe its gas  , but its not. Should I be concerned?

You'll know the difference. A contraction will radiate all around, sometimes from the back to the front. It feels like someone is squeezing your insides with a vice. They also will be regular in intervals. Braxton Hicks felt like period cramps to me and contractions were not similar at all.

I thought I was having Braxton Hicks, but went to the dr and were told they were pre term labor contractions. All i really felt was a pressure (maybe like a tightness) I have no idea how to tell them apart. Sorry!

The best way I can describe is that Real Contractions start to make your lower back hurt and the outside of your thighs..maybe not a hurt but an ache..Braxton Hicks just tighten then realease and thats it..

My labor with DS#2 started off like a backache that kept coming and going (lower back). He was posterior and I had a LOT of back labor.

Real contractions, as you can see from this thread, feel different for each woman.
I have TERRIBLE cramps with AF and personally would rather be in labor! With my first, I just thought I was having some weird, strong cramping when in fact, I was in labor. They hurt, not going to lie...but it felt like this tightening of my belly. No back pain AT ALL. While having them, I had an urge to bear down/push [like when you poop]. It isn't what you are supposed to do, but I would bear down just to cope. The nurses will yell at you, so don't do it.
Some women have BACK labor, some have front and back...some just front. It just depends on chance I suppose.
The only thing I can tell you that will clue you in for sure is that REAL contractions last, have a peak/crest like a wave and you can time them for their duration and the time between. For me, they started at 5 minutes apart...which is not totally normal, but I had a4 hour labor.
