Give us details on what she likes. Does she wear jewelry? Is she into gadgets (ipod, camera, etc.)? Does she love clothes?

I think the jewelry idea is nice, if you actually like your mother-in-law and want her gift to be meaningful. If you have a mother-in-law like mine :x try a Snuggy or a crock-pot.

I made her a personalized calendar at Snapfish with all family photos. I also made her a photo mug with a collage of all the dogs. We also plan to get her a picture frame for her desk at work that says grandkids, and put our sono pic in it. She has been talking about the other ladies at work and their frames of grandchildren pictures. Oh, and a snuggie b/c she is always cold.

She never wants anything, so we're getting her restaurant gift certificate. And some room sprays that she likes.

I let DH buy his side the gifts but if I had to I would get her earrings or a sweet smelling perfume  Sorry if I am not much help.

I picked out a pretty green scarf for MIL, and DH got her a book about hiking in NY/CT, some hiking poles and one of those tripods that can stick on anything (that stuff is joint for MIL and FIL b/c they like to go hiking with their dog).
Last year we got her a new teapot (which she needed), an assortment of fun teas, and a cozy blanket. I think we might have gotten a book too.
She also always likes things that have to do with entertaining....we have gotten her earrings before also.
