what do you all think of this article regarding Milk / Congerstion / Ear Aches?
I have just been doing a research since DD is getting such frequent, painful ear infections, you never know what to beleive over the internet but I thought this was interesting.
Once again, Western medicine can't see the forest because all those trees are in the way. The root cause of childrens' ear infections is nothing other than the rampant consumption of cow's milk, a liquid food that directly promotes asthma, constipation, and chronic sinus conditions in both children and adults. Why? Because cow's milk is the breast milk of another species, and it is nutritionally imbalanced for human consumption. That's why so many humans are allergic to cow's milk and can't digest it properly. Children are routinely told to "drink their milk" but, in reality, they'd be far better off without it. If you have children, try this yourself: take them off all dairy products for 30 days and see if you don't notice dramatic results in their health. They will have fewer colds, fewer ear infections, and if they previously showed symptoms of asthma, those symptoms will frequently vanish. They will have easier bowel movements, improved immune system function and they'll be avoiding a liquid food that's nutritionally skewed. I've seen the avoidance of dairy products work miracles for children.
Worried about their calcium intake? The "good for your bones" myth about cow's milk is nothing more than marketing propaganda. In reality, children need more natural sunlight (since Vitamin D is critical for bones) and can get ample calcium from other sources such as green vegetables. A cup of broccoli juice has more calcium than a cup of milk. Also, make sure they supplement with magnesium, since most children in the U.S. are deficient in that mineral, and magnesium deficiencies inhibit the utilization of calcium.
Finally, make sure your children get plenty of physical exercise. The way to grow strong bones is to stress those bones through exercise. As bones are stressed, the body automatically deposits more minerals to make them stronger.
See, in the end, children don't need cow's milk at all. That is, unless your children are furry, walk on four legs, and moo.

I know it is true from personal experience. when I was little, I had such severe ear infections that I had a hearing problem. My dr's told my mom to take me off all dairy and my ear infections cleared up. This happened on more than one occasion.

Re: what do you all think of this article regarding Milk / Congerstion / Ear Aches?
ITA The problem is even though I agree right now I am actually feeding my formula which is milk based. When it comes time to switch from formula to actual milk I am not sure what I am going to do. I mean I believe what the article sates but society had also brain washed me to think that my DS needs milk and I am afraid he will not get enough calcium without it. I do not eat any kind of meat , except fish. I do eat dairy, but I do not drink milk. I eat cheese and eggs. My husband on the other hand drinks milk every day with his cereal and does eat meat.
I am not sure what I am going to do with my son. I know we will probably give him some meat, but I am not sure about the milk. Maybe we will give him soy milk or rice milk that is fortified with calcium.

Re: what do you all think of this article regarding Milk / Congerstion / Ear Aches?
Well my DD is 100% dairy free since 6 weeks old (she is now 14 months) and she has constant recurring severe double ear infections. SOOO not saying there can't be some truth in it, but it is certainly not the cause in my case.
ETA: she drinks only water (no soy milk or juices - her choice.)
As for SOY, I'm NOT an advocate. I've read too much about how the health benefits are extremely controversial and soy products contain something that leads to early puberty. I WISH I had another alternative since rice milk does not have enough "healthy fat" or calcuim - well I guess according to this article I do - brocolli and green veggies!!!

Dairy Orange juice Grapefruit juice
Are ALL mucus forming!
You need to limit them when congested or having a cold/coughing.

I have also read some negative things about soy. It is just so hard. Also, that is true about the rice milk. I guess the question is whether or not children can get enough calcium from veggies and enough healthy fat from other sources.

Re: what do you all think of this article regarding Milk / Congerstion / Ear Aches?
I don't know how accurate this is, but if my child had frequent ear infections, I might try cutting out cow's milk for awhile just to see what happened.
As a child, I had bad ear infections too and cut out milk products for awhile. As I got older, they were reintroduced and my ear infections got better.
As an adult, the ear infections resurfaced. Once again, I cut out dairy for awhile (easier this time since there are many substitutes these days) and while they didn't go away completely, they did get better, and I noticed my nose was less stuffy. JME.

Friends of ours have a DD who has chronic ear infections. She is 21 months now and, as a result, has been on strictly soy for at least 6 months, but it seems she's still getting the same amt. of infections.

I don't think milk causes mucus but I know from years of allergy and sinus problems that milk products do thicken mucus - which can cause more problems.

DS has had 3 ear infections and the dr said he would test him for a "milk allergy" at 9 months old
I didnt realize the controversy over soy

Re: what do you all think of this article regarding Milk / Congerstion / Ear Aches?
I am a total believer.
I am also not onboard with soy either. When Josh was diagnosed with the milk/soy protien allergy and I really had to start looking at labels, I can't believe how much soy we take in daily.
It really opened my eyes to fresh lean meats, fruits, veggies, and nuts.
josh is still BF, but I have grown to enjoy rice milk.
ETA: dairy free his first year while EBF...never had an ear infection.
