What do you believe is the safest cookware (pots and pans) out there?
As we're getting ready to cook dinner, I notice we have a variety of pots and pans in our cabinet and I just don't know which is "safest" to cook our food in.
Since we've got a lot of concerned mommies and daddies out there and a lot of us are trying to be "green" and watch for all the junk out there...
In your opinion...what's the safest???

GREAT question. I have had this on my "to-do" list to research for several months
ETA: My SIL swears by cast iron, I know she loves how it cooks and she says it's "safe"...but again, I haven't read anything personally yet.

GREAT question. I have had this on my "to-do" list to research for several months I know right?!?!?
Everytime I search I read something different and end up getting SO confused.
What actually prompted it, is I can't remember which mag it was but I was just reading about all this and they kind of had a breakdown. I want to say KIWI, but I'm not 100% positive.

I am not a fan of anything with a coating, unless it is enamel bakeware. Cast Iron IMO is the best, but it is very expensive. I definitely do not like to use no-stick.
There is a line of "green" cookware....I have to see if I can find it....

Hmmm...I don't remember seeing it and I don't get that magazine, so maybe it is it!
Hopefully another mommy will remember where you saw it

I must be the only one who HATES those green pans, everything sticks to them.
I like Stainless Steel best, however I have no idea if they are the safest or not. I have heard that Silicon is the safest bakeware out there.

Re: What do you believe is the safest cookware (pots and pans) out there?
This is on my to do list also - I just told DH this weekend that I am throwing out our non stick pans and he looked
I know there is a green alternative - I just have to learn to cook better so everything doesnt stick.
"5oclubs" - what is your experience with these and any tips for the rest of us on how to use them properly?
Thanks for bringing this up chelle.

I found some stuff on another board about this, so I will find it and post it, they even said that glassware contains lead in it.

You should avoid any "non stick" surface that is damaged and little pieces break off and get mixed with the food.
I personally like stainless steel pots.
