What do you do for BC when you start weaning off the breast?
You take the mini-pill while breastfeeding. What do you do as you wean? Is the mini-pill enough? TIA!!

If you are tolerating the mini-pill well and you are okay with the pregnancy risk, which is slightly higher than the risk on the maxi-pill (made that name up), then stay with it. I have had breakthrough bleeding on low dose pills. This is a question worthy of a call to the Dr.

I cannot take any type of hormonal BC pills so we use condoms now
I may switch to natural family planning in a few months though

My OB told me no BC pills while BF. We use condoms.

I am associating my taking of mini-pill with decreased production of breast milk at 4 months... once I started taking it, I had dried up my milk supply with couple of weeks... but it might not be the same for everyone...

my doctor also said he was not comfortable prescribing the mini-pill. I was surprised because from reading here, I thought it was a pretty common option.

I have the Paraguard IUC and I am very happy with it. I am still BF 7 months later but it lasts 10 years, is hormone free and can be taken out at anytime.

I was on the mini-pill before I became pregnant and did not become pregnant until I came off of it...I will stay on it until we decide its time even though I stopped BF about 2 weeks ago and got my AF...
