Besides hotspot spray from the vet (which I have and use) anything else you do to help your dog from itching and biting/licking the area?

When my mom's dog had what she thought were normal hotspots she ended up taking him to a specialist at LIVS and it turned out to be a staph infection. They put the dog on antibiotics and prednisone and they healed SO much faster. His spots were huge and there were a lot of them. It turned out to be a seasonal thing, because of his allergies.

I put the cones on my dogs. Then I do the wash and spray.

I hate using the cone on them but that's the only way to stop "projects".

Re: What do you do for your dog if he/she has a hotspot?

Ok thanks.

I guess it's not a true hotspot yet. Its not infected. But my female has been licking her tail so much that she wore away the hair and its scabby. But its not pus filled or infected looking.

We see the vet tomorrow so of course I will show him. I just was curious what everyone else would do. Unfortunately this wont go away b/c my dogs occasionally get bit by fleas or even mosquitos/gnats (they are on frontline which always kills the fleas) when we are out in the park or wherever. But my female has a bite allergy that lasts her for weeks.Chat Icon My male is fine in a day or two after a bite.
