What do you do to combat grass and weeds growing between your pavers?
We have a few sprouting. Do I just pull them, or should I use weed killer?

I spray. It takes a while to put them all out, and you often don't get the roots. You still have to stay on top of them no matter what you do, though.
Diluted vinegar or lemon juice also works as a spray.

Or you could just do hot water. You don't even need chemicals.

That works? I guess it makes sense. Never even thought to try it. I have done the vinegar thing. Kills whatever spot it touches, so as long as you get everything, it works OK.

Roundup. I sprayed my brick patio at the beginning of May and have not seen a weed since.

Re: What do you do to combat grass and weeds growing between your pavers?
We used weed killer until we locked all the bricks in with this new cement/sand stuff.
My DH actually power washed all the sand out of the pavers, cleaned them & put down the new stuff.
We did it in the back to begin with and loved it so did it in the front as well.
It's a concrete sand mix that you sweep in like regular sand and then spray with water. Once it hardens it's set. No more weeds or ant hills!

I hate chemicals...... hot water, and after that dries, you can always brush a good deal of kosher salt between the cracks. You have to redo it regularly, but its cheap and safe

how hot should the water be? I like that idea. I just used round up and it killed the grass on both sides :(

I read that you just sprinkle table salt into the cracks and the grass dies. I would just pull any weeds and sprinkle salt on the grass that grows out of them.

Thanks for this post! I spent a good deal of time yanking some of these out last weekend, but you can't always pull the weeds out completely. I'll try either hot water, or the salt.

Re: What do you do to combat grass and weeds growing between your pavers?
You should boil the hot water in a teapot first. I wouldn't do this in winter, obviously.
Also, be careful with salt because it will start building up white scum on your pavers. I have that problem with fertilizer salts in my terra cotta planting pots.
