Re: What do you do to relax at the end of a hard day?
After a tough day, I do indulge in a glass or two, but I try to make sure I only do it a few times a week. When DH is away for work (most weeks) I don't usually have anything. Although this is probably when I "need" it the most!

Re: What do you do to relax at the end of a hard day?
Take a long, hot bath. Read, watch something fun like Survivor or How I met your Mother, waste more time on line
Last night I was so tired, I just went to bed super early!
Dh doesn't drink wine so it's a waste for me to open a bottle. It's probably a blessing as I cut it out to save calories!

I like to read my magazines, take a long warm bath, cuddle with DH, and sometimes I will be on LIF.

Re: What do you do to relax at the end of a hard day?
To relax, go online, read a magazine, catch up on shows we tivo'd with DH.
I could go for a glass of wine evey night but don't give in. I had my first glass (or more ) a few weeks ago when a friend from CA came to visit. After 1.5 years without a drop of alcohol for me, DH had opened a very expensive bottle of wine we had. I guess I had no choice but to drink.
I had a couple of drinks on a date with DH 2 weeks ago. That's it!
I keep saying, I need a glass of wine but I don't do it. Mostly because DH does not drink much and I don't want to feel like an alcoholic.

Unfortunately for me it's a glass of wine or 3 Working out also does the trick, but the wine usually wins over working out. How are more Moms not total alcoholics? Seriously...not making a joke...the minute DD falls asleep I reach for the wine....a very unhealthy and expensive habit!! I can't believe more Moms aren't like me....or they are and just aren't talking about it???
I will admit to indulging in wine or some drink most nights with dinner or after. Its usually only one, but on a rough day where I feel like tossing one or both children out the window, maybe its a really strong margarita!
I don't need it though...that is why there is no worry. I've been on antiboitics for a week and haven't missed my wine-down time.
BUT, I easily see how moms can become addicted to prescription drugs or alchohol. There is a very fine line that requires much self awareness and control to stay on the side of drinking in moderation.

Re: What do you do to relax at the end of a hard day?
I am like you when I'm awake enough to even drink the wine. Half the time when I want it I'm so tired I just end up going to bed.
Trying to drink wine w/dinner now to relax a bit earlier and enjoy the evening :) Work has been killing me lately and this has been a great wind-down!!

Re: What do you do to relax at the end of a hard day?
I work full time, but after I put DS to bed, I usually eat my dinner with DH, clean up, watch some of my shows, and maybe once a week will have a couple of glasses of wine. I think reaching for wine every evening, like you said, is a very unhealthy habit. I read and do my crossword puzzles on my train ride to and from work.
Alicia, I don't mean to get personal or anything, but have you considered maybe going back to work part-time? Into a field that you really enjoy perhaps? IMO I think it would really be good for you...sort of balance out a personal/carreer life and your time with DD...what do you think?
