What do you do when you hit a dieting plateau?

I have been on a diet for about 2-3 months now and have lost 22 pounds and am thrilled beyond belief! But the last 2 weeks the weight loss has slowed to an almost invisible level and some days I have gained weight for no reason. I am doing the WW old points system and am not cheating, using almost all of my daily points, not using any "cheat points" so what gives? I have heard about a diet "plateau" and maybe I am in that situation right now. What can I do? My dad said to have a day of EATING to shock my body into a metabolism boost. I would love to do that but only if it will work. Any advice? Thanks!

I wouldnt have a day of eating but I would have a cheat meal. This will help speed up your metabolism and then the next day when you go back to regular eating the weight will come off again and should bring you to a new low for the week.

I found changing up my meals helped. I sometimes get into a rut of eating the same things over and over because I know the calories. When I change the meals up a bit I seem to do better.

I agree with Lauren about a cheat meal. I would also suggest trying to introducing new foods into your diet. Try changing things up.

Thank you! I dont really know how to change up my foods... I feel like I am eating a huge variety of foods. Chicken, beef, shrimp, tuna, lots of different veggies, some fruit. Maybe my body has lost the excess fat from stopping all fast food and the rest will come off slowly because I'm eating healthy?

Soooo... when you say eat a cheat meal? What do I eat? 2 slices of pizza? Taco bell? Or something healthy but purposely go over my points for the day?

exactly. You should eat your normal daily points and then have something extra. I usually eat my normal foods and go out for dinner or get a dessert. Its myone treat of my week and i LOVE and look forward to it! And it works!

Cheat meal = eat what ever you want for one meal. I usually use this meal for a dinner out on the weekend- When I say change up your foods do just that add some new things- If you eat rice try quinoa. Instead of having beef try pork. Incorporate some new foods...this also keeps meals from getting boring.
