What do you do when you know you're reaching
your breaking point?
DH "predicted" it this past weekend that I'm simply doing too much and need to slow down or else I will have a break-down.
I woke up this morning and finally realized that I'm close to my breaking point and don't know what to do.

Re: What do you do when you know you're reaching
I either drink or just let myself have the breakdown.
Probably not the healthiest.
Can you take a mental health day from work, and just catch up on some R&R?

usually I don't see it until it's too late.
you are lucky.
look at your schedule, see if you can give yourself a break somewhere.
and start thinking what business you want to be in.
having two SUCCESSFUL F/T jobs is impossible to do forever.

Re: What do you do when you know you're reaching
I take some time and just stop everything- even if it's only for an hour. Then I try to figure out if there is something I can ask for help with. If this isn't feasible, then I push on and once I am able to slow down, I do.

Re: What do you do when you know you're reaching
Have the breakdown. Throw a tantrum, scream, cry, do whatever ya gotta do to get it out.
When you're done, make a list of everything you have to do. Start delegating stuff to your friends and family, they're there to help you out. Get a cleaning service for a little while.
Take a mental health day/week off from work to assess how you can cut back on all the things that are making you crazy.

Re: What do you do when you know you're reaching
Get drunk!
In all seriousness, take some quiet time. Reflect on all that you have going on. Prioritize. Make a few lists. Try to see how you can multi-task, and even let some small things fall to the side temporarily.
For me, being outside is the best place for me to gather my thoughts, especially on sunny days like today. Whether it be on park bench, the beach, a quiet spot under a tree while sitting in my car...Just find what works best for you.

I do this, too.
Take a day for yourself - before you pass the breaking point.

GEt a massage - it always makes me feel better! Then write a list of things you need to do and prioritize everything.

Re: What do you do when you know you're reaching
- I immediatelly do a "mental stop" - Reflect on what I did and what I need to do to fix the situation - I come up with an action plan - take some time off (ASAP) to take care of business if I need to do so.

Re: What do you do when you know you're reaching
Thanks for all your suggestions ladies...Jessica - you hit it right on the head...having two F/T jobs is literally starting to take a toll on me, and I can't go too much longer this way.
I guess I really need to figure out what I want to do in the long-term, and do it fast b/c I initially thought I could take my time in deciding.
I have a to-do list, and I check everything off, but it gets to the point where I don't have personal time to myself to do things and that's usually where I can "relax."

WOW...2 F/T job.
A to-do list is only good to get you organized. It won't resolve the current situation. Especially if you are already organized but "maxed" out.
You need to do a short term goals list and long term goals list to assess your situation.
Good luck!!!!

Yes, but don't turn mental health day into "let me get done all that needs to get done bc I have the day off"
You really need to take a walk grab some lunch sleep in, etc
Enjoy

I agree with Jess.
You need to go away on vacation with the hubby I think that might do you some good.

I do not have 2 F/T jobs so more power to you! But I do understand where you are coming from. My best advice is to actually have the break down, and get some sleep.

Re: What do you do when you know you're reaching
i feel your pain Christine. i have 2 full time jobs as well (realtor and i own my own business). it can definitely be exhausting, especially when its combined with household chores, family and friends who complain that they never see you, etc. Sometimes i just wanna cry cause i feel like there's not enough time to get everything done. And then coupled with the overwhelming feeling of wanting to have a baby but not feeling you have time to dedicate to raising one yet, its just a horrific situation.
i try to just take it one day at a time. take time to just be by myself at home and away from DH so i can get my thoughts in order and my "ducks in a row". try to get manis and pedis often so i can relax for an hour or so. but i have to remember that this is the choice i made and that eventually i will reap the benefiits. i know that eventually it will get easier. i need a vacation soooooo badly it hurts.
we're here for you girl!

Re: What do you do when you know you're reaching
Christine, I honestly don't know how you juggle it all...the responsible corporate job, the side gig and all the headaches and projects that come with it, Ricky, your friends and family...I think it would be hard enough with 1 full time job knowing the way you are and how much you help others...you're still very young, and even though you're a go-getter, which is great, you need time for yourself. I think its time to make an important decision and choose one area to focus on (job-wise) and more time for you!
