What do you girls wear now (chilly March/April) when you go out in the city?

I feel like such an old dork! I'm so out of the loop and my sister, who lives in NYC, is no help!

When you guys go out at night to trendy restaurants, clubs, lounges, bars, what do you wear this time of year...Spring, but cold? Are you still wearing winter colors & fabrics like knits and boots?

Do girls wear jeans to clubs or do they tend to stick with dresses/skirts? The last time I went out in NYC (October), I don't recall seeing many girls in jeans. It seemed like they were all freezing their butts off in dresses and strappy shoes. Well...in the meatpacking district anyway and that's where we'll be this weekend.

I prefer wearing darker colors at night as it is.. I won't go bare legged with these ridiculous temps we are having but if it gets warmer, i will..

I am a fan of dresses and skirts or a pair of leather leggings and a nice top/bag/shoes, etc.

not so much jeans in the city though (unless they are black or like the blue jbrand skinny ones that look dressed up enough)

I stick with dresses and boots that come over my knees. As far as jackets, I don't wear a wool coat - I go for a leather type of jacket. Not the warmest, but I don't freeze.

As far as colors go, I wear so much black in the fall and winter that I stick with it at night until mid April.

So skinny jeans are acceptable? Skinny jeans with over-the-knee boots would be ideal considering it's supposed to be cold. Unfortunately I don't have any dressier tops to go with them.

Ugh...I have 2 pairs of black OTK boots and they're both too big so I can't wear them until I have a leather guy or cobbler take them in. (they literally fall down on me...past my knees, so it's no use even trying to make them work with an outfit.)

That leaves me with my brown combat OTK boots.

Too casual? Not with the sweater. I'll have to run out tonight to see if I can find something else.

(and excuse the floors...we won't finish them with an infant in the house. )


Going out shouldn't be this stressful!! Pre-kids it used to be fun!

J, chill out!! you're hot girl! you're stressing over nothing!

I think the boots look hot and I would get a nice top to go with it. or get a tank and put on a nice jacket or blazer over it, some bangles, long necklace and a nice clutch and you're good to go!

I went to The Stanton Social last night and had originally planned to wear something more springy but since the weather was so winterry I wore a bronziish Jcrew sequined skirt, a fitted white button down, wide brow belt, brown heels and a olive green blazer, some necklaces and a scarf

To be honest, I was really cold but I was not the only one -I saw A LOT of girls wearing skirts with bare legs. I did see a few with skinny jeans with heels and a lace top etc. but far more dresses and skirts.

I HATE SHOPPING!!! There's crap out there! Well, in Walt Whitman anyway. I was there 2+ hours and come home with 1 tank (and 2 coats. ) But nothing that works with my brown OTK boots.

I feel kind of bad because my husband was pushing for me to wear the OTK boots (he loves them), but I just can't make them work with anything.

You'll look hot no matter what you wear! The boots look great! You'll probably find something at the last minute in your closet and be the best dressed one there.

Thanks for all your help girls!!!!!

I wore one outfit into the city and brought 2 other outfits & accessories with me "just in case." I had a glass of wine in the hotel, freshened my face up and said "F*&# it! I'm just gonna' go with what I have on."

I ended up going with the dressy TR jeans (crystal pave buttons) and OTK boots in shown in the previous post, along with a fitted brown long sleeve tee and just threw on a bunch of Swarovski mesh accessories (cuffs & long, dangly earrings.) I was probably one of the only girls in jeans/pants, but got compliments anyway.

Until my next "fashion panic post" ...thanks again!!!!

I live in the city and when we go out I wear dark skinny jeans, wedge boots, and a cute top but we arent going to clubs.

My sis and her friends go to clubs/bars and they wear black leggings or black skinny jeans, heeled boots, and loose tops.

I do see girls out and about freezing their buttts off in miniskirts and heels as well

Thanks! I think I purchased those from Nordies, but they're by Sam Edelman and called "Lorissa." I know they're available elsewhere in different colors and materials.
