Hylands Tablets, wet washcloth that I throw in the freezer for about 20 minutes, the mesh feeding bags and I put cold fruit in it for him to suck on, and basically any of his teething toys I keep in the fridge or even throw them in the freezer for a little while - Can you tell that we are smack in the middle of teething?!?!?!?!?

I was told they advised not freezing the teething toys anymore due to the freezing breaks the plastic and then the stuff inside leaks out and the child can get ill swallowing. Not sure what exactly those toys are filled with.. but this is what i was told.

I wouldn't use oragel anymore after hearing about it numbing the gag reflex and causing choking. DD never liked it anyway.
I'd use Hylands, frozen fruit, frozen washcloths and rubber toys. DD loved rubbing her gums on her rubber duckies.
Land of Nod sells a giraffe teething toy that has done wonders for some people. After seeing DD with the rubber duckies, I'm going to get it for #2.

I wouldn't freeze the toys to the point of them being frozen, just to put a good chill on them

Re: What do you give your DC to soothe there gums when they are teething?
It's complicated what's okay and what's not, isn't it?
I've heard some negatives about Hyland's tablets and wouldn't use them. Same with Orajel, it makes it hard for babies to swallow if it drips down their throats. I didn't know about this until I had used it with DS quite a few times!
Cold washcloth, or teethers, pacifiers in the refrigerator (not the freezer). DS doesn't like any of this, but most babies do. Also I use tylenol if he's really hurting, though mostly at night.

I put watermelon in one of those mesh feeders, he loves to chew on it and it's cold and yummy at the same time!

Re: What do you give your DC to soothe there gums when they are teething?
We've successfully used Hyland's teething tablets, frozen pieces of fruit in the mesh holders, frozen washcloths, before her teeth came in we used the frozen teething ring - when her teeth started popping through the gum we took them out of rotation so the tooth could not pop the plastic and have the fluid inside come out. These were a nice chew toy for DD after that:
Baby Orajel did nothing for DD

Re: What do you give your DC to soothe there gums when they are teething?
anything.
teething rings, kept cold in the fridge. tylenol. recently started with the hylands, but she choked on one last night and threw up so I'm not too keen on those.
The other day we gave her a little frozen icee and she LOVVVVVED it. The cherry flavored icee, she kept going back for more.
Anything that soothes her little gums I will give her.
