What do you have on your windows on either side(s) of your front door?
You know...those long window...I have no idea what they are called. I love that the light comes in but I am noticing that it comes in pretty strong and will probably start bleaching my wood floor.
Plus...I always have this strange feeling someone is going to stare back at me one night while I pass by them.

OMG - my front door has a big oval of glass, and I'm always afraid of it! Like I am going to look out of it one night and someone is going to be right there staring at me!!

I feel the exact same way about our back door. I once got freaked out when at 5 AM and I was in my kitchen when all of a sudden I see a cat pressed up against the window trying to get in. DD loved it but I almost had a heart attack!

Bumping for more suggestions!  I really hate passing these windows at night. But I do want something simple that will filter light so when you look from the street, it won't look out of place.

I used to have curtains on the side windows...but i took them down b/c the dogs destroyed them when people came to the door.
Some people in my neighborhood have mini blinds on them and a few have some kind of decorative contact paper over them

You can probably get some contact paper from your local hardware store - some of them are really nice.

Mine have a design on them, but you can still see through. I've been thinking of getting curtains such as this for either side, I have seen them at Marburn Curtain.

I have a fear that someone will break the glass and put there hand in to unlock the door like they do in the movies, I know it is unlikely, but it scares me! Anyway, I have no idea what they are called!

They are called "Side Lights"
I have double doors, but I have a similar concern about people looking through the windows when they are at the door. I'm going to get some Home Depot Window Film to put on the windows. Since the windows are so pretty, I just want to get the one that diffuses the light, but doesn't have any patterns. There are other films that have patterns and designs if you want to get fancy.

They can do that with any window.... actually the front door/side light is one of the last places they would try and break in. It's too obvious and visible from the street...

I have shear curtains on either side. It still lets light in and keeps eyes out. LOL

You can purchase frosted glass spray for your windows. I saw them do this on HGTV and it looked really beautiful. Here is an example

I have been looking for curtains for mine. I found some really nice ones on a site (i think it was called sidelightcurtains.com.) I just need to decide on what I want & then I'll order them. I can't stand them with nothing on them.

I agree...I just want something to diffuse the light. I will look into that-thank you!
