What do you think is the average cost of a house in Queens/LI?
We're hoping to move to the NY area after I graduate, and I just want some ballpark figures to know how much we should be saving while our costs are low in MD. Finally now that DH graduated and has a job we can think about saving!
I would like average prices of houses that are not fixer uppers. More like homes that could be forever homes but not necessarily.
Thanks.

The prices vary between Queens and LI.
Any parts in particular in Queens?
As for LI- are you thinking Nassau Or Suffolk?

Probably Nassau, but it would depend on where we got jobs.

that is a very broad question, as it varies greatly by area. i would go on MLSLI.com and look at specific towns youre interested in.

It depends on where you are looking, but generally the houses in Queens are more expensive but the taxes are lower.

Even when I do searches in specific towns, I see ranges from 300,000 to 600,000. But does that mean that the lower priced homes always need work?
