What do you think is the average time it takes to sell a home these days?
I know there are a million variables-- but generally speaking. We are getting ready to get started and was I just wondering what's happening out there.

i'd say 3 months, but depends on lots of factors.
some homes are just stuck on the market for such a long time, for various reasons: way too overpriced to begin with, sellers not willing to come down in price or neg, or the house may be at a good price but the taxes are HIGH and haven't been grieved or aren't in the process of being grieved.
as a buyer myself, i always seem to skim the houses i see that say "CO's are in process of being obtained," because it just spells out potential headache to me (even if its not)
i see so many homes that are way overpriced, mostly.
i also think pictures on MLS make a big difference. if the pics are taken on a dark and dreary day, the house looks awful usually, KWIM?

These were the numbers for a lot of the areas of the 2009 Huntington report.
We have been on the market for over a year  We've lowered 50K and houses with the same updates/size/lot etc have sold for more, so I'm confident we are priced right - either way, we cannot lower anymore - we will just stay put.
