What do you think of this as a theme for a First birthday Party...

I know DS is only 4 months but I am already in the works of planning his 1st birthday party.

The theme I plan on going with is Sports. That's his nursery theme and figured I should keep the tradition going...Chat Icon

I was toying with the idea of getting Mr. Met to appear since we are Met fans so I called out of curiosity just to see how much it would cost. They want $500.00 for the hour. Have a nice day I felt like saying...$500.00 for an hour! That's insane! Chat Icon

I think that is a little too advacned for a 1 year old, go with something like music, and visual entertainment. Maybe when he is about 3, 4, or 5 the sports idea may be a hit, but I think it would be a waste of your $ at this point

I definitely think so, but wait to hear what other Mommys say. After having 3 kids and going to all of their friend's parties, I have come to realize that we as parents spend waaaay too much money on partoes when they are young, some music, balloons and bubbles and they are happy, We did a petting zoo for my son's 1st birthday and he loved it for about 30 min and they preferred to sit around and watch his older friends play. The 2,3,4,5,6 year olds loved it, but eh would of never missed it if we never had it.

I kinda agree that big themes with characters, etc should be saved for when the kids will enjoy it. My theme for Jack's 1st birthday was Jack! Chat Icon He was addicted to Baby Einstein at the time so I did plates, etc with the Baby Einstein theme and used primary colors with everything.

And I made a cupcake tree with one of these in each of the cupcakes (pic is a little blurry)

Here was my invite that I made (each was mounted on a piece of 5 x 7 cardstock:
