What do you use to clean your wood floors and your tile?
I was using the steam mop, and just don't like it at all...what do you use to clean your floors that makes them shiny???
also, is it safe to use it with kids? My children walk, not crawl, but at times play on the floor and sometimes, eat off of it

Do not use Murphy's Oil soap! It is not good for your floors! When you are cleaning wood floors, you are actually cleaning the polyurethane that your floors are coated with, not the wood. Murphy's oil leaves an oily residue behind...when it comes time in a few years to recoat your floors, usually you only need a screening which is a light sanding and then the floors can be recoated with poly. If you use murphy's oil or other products, the waxy residue left behind makes it very difficult to just screen and recoat. Many times you will need a full sanding again. I worked for a hardwood flooring company for many years and the owner was adamant about telling people not to use these type of cleaners. You can simply use white vinegar and water or there is a product called Bona Pro Series Cleaning , which is swiffer wet jet type of product specifically for wood floors. There are other products sold at home depot as well that do not leave behind a residue.

Re: What do you use to clean your wood floors and your tile?
Wood Floors: I rotate weekly Pine Sol & Water and Vinegar & Water. I will use Method or Orange Glo to make them shine (1x per month).
Kitchen Tile Floor: Daily -sweep, then dry swiffer and/or wet swiffer depending how bad it is. 2x per week - mop with Pinesol & water or Spic & Span & Water 1x per month - Granite Gold Cleaner
Bathrooms: Tilex Spray w/ Bleach or Lemon Amonia & Water

Re: What do you use to clean your wood floors and your tile?
I use my steam mop on both. I also use the method on the wood once in awhile, and just water & vinegar on the tile.

Re: What do you use to clean your wood floors and your tile?
Swiffer Wet Jet - but I use the formula specifically made for wood floors. It is not greasy at all, cleans the floor and leaves a nice shine.
For tile floors, I use my swiffer wet jet for maintenance (the all purpose formula - you can alternate between different formulas) and for really thorough cleanings I just use Lysol cleaner.
