what does an ulcer feel like?
For the past week or so, i keep having pains right in the middle of my stomach just under my rib cage it's usually right after i eat. shortly thereafter, it's followed by nausea. Does this sound like an ulcer?

I had the same thing last year and went on Prevacid (the Dr. told me it was stomach acid) and it helped for a while and then flared up again. I went to a gastrointerologist and had an upper endoscopy and gallbladder scan and everything turned out fine so they just called it "IBS".

I had that and it turned out I had very bad GIRD...I was put on Zegerid and after a few months it went away.
I stopped taking the meds and just make sure I don't eat large, spicy meals very often.

when i lay on my back sometimes i feel like there is a burning sensation. is this acid reflux??

Yeah...GIRD is just advanced acid reflux. I recommend going to a Dr. right away, the longer you wait the worse it gets.
Laying on my back was the worst...I literally couldn't sleep in bed from it.

At its worst I felt that too.
Definitely go to the Dr. and in the meantime stay away from coffee (I was a huge coffee drinker) and dairy. I always thought dairy "coated" your stomach but actually it is very hard to digest and will cause you to have more stomach acid. Keep it bland for a while.

I take Nexium. Had to have an upper GI test and I have a hietal hernia. It wasn't fun...but has been so much better after being on Prevacid and then Nexium for two years.
Feel better.

I know! That was the worst for me. I an avid Starbucks drinker! I do drink coffee now though - just not as much. Just wait until this "attack" passes and slowly you can start having a little bit here and there.
