What have you been told about lifting restrictions after transfer...

I've always been told not to lift anything over 8 pounds for my 2ww. Trying to figure out when I can do a FET, but with taking care of my DB's kids full time, I am having issues finding the time. Chat Icon Mostly b/c the baby is already around 17 lbs and they figure he'll be approx 20 lbs in Dec, which is when we're hoping to transfer. Chat Icon They just moved out by us over the summer and don't have any backup plans if I'm not around... and I can't just take off for the 2ww after transfer...

So, what's everyone heard about lifting restrictions? I know people who have kids do FETs, so I'd have to think that they're picking their kids up during their 2ww. Any thoughts? I hate this... Chat Icon

Re: What have you been told about lifting restrictions after transfer...

My RE said no lifting anything the day after the transfer. DH cared for DS for 2 days after the transfer because i put myself on bedrest. I resumed normal activity after that and had no problems with my pregnancy until 6 weeks.

ETA: My DS is 24lbs and I lift him at least 25x a day.

Is there anyone that can help you out for the first 2 days? I feel like those are the most important as far as not lifting anything.

I never lifted anything over 10lbs.. but I get a little nutty.... I have a cat who weighs almost 15lbs and I won't lift him even after the transfer......... but yea like you said, there are people who have kids and lift them all the time! I would honestly tell your brother to fine other arrangements for the week of the transfer. Not necessarily because of the lifting, but just because it seems like you get stressed working such long hours with the kids, and you should try to be as relaxed as possible after the transfer Chat Icon

I have a 3yr old DD and she is 36 lbs. I was told not to lift her until being cleared by the RE. I was cleared at 8.5 weeks but he still said try not to lift her but if you really have to it's okay. During the 2ww I didn't lift her at all, but she is mobile so I was able to manage. I brought her in the shower so I didn't have to lift her into the bathtub when DH was out of town, I held her hand and had her climb out of the car herself, etc. If it's a baby though, you have to lift to bathe, put in crib, etc. I would say lift when you have to, but don't walk around carrying the baby.

Good Luck!!!

Thanks guys!

DH & I were thinking of transferring on a Friday (or even as late as they'd do on a Thursday) and telling my DB that he'll have to stay home to watch the kids, or make other arrangements... that would give me Fri, Sat and Sun, before going back on Monday.
They're already going to be 6day embryos when we transfer them, so I know they "should" technically implant in those first couple of days IF they're going to at all, but it just makes me nervous. Chat Icon

How are you feeling? Chat Icon I still feel like garbage- but my strep test was negative thankfully! I really think my body has just had enough of everything it's been going thru lately and is trying to fight back, lol...
My DB is going away w/ his family from Christmas-New Years, but I want this all done before Christmas. To be honest, Christmas is going to suck this year for us... the ONLY way I will feel at all like all hope isn't lost is if we've transferred by then. DH & I talked about everything- his birthday is on the 19th so he suggested doing the transfer on that day, but I thought the Thurs or Fri before it made more sense so I'd have a few days off before working, kwim? Plus between the lab, Dr B, Reprosource, and the regular blood lab, I'm nervous someone is going to be closed if we wait to start the week b/t Christmas and New Yearss...
My mom works full time, but she works for the school and has time off in the middle of the day, so I know she'd be over as much as possible to help me and do the lifting... I'm just SO nervous about all of this. Chat Icon
I was talking w/ another friend of mine tonight and I told her if I ever manage to get pregnant again, at what point do I get to let my guard down at all? At what point do I get to stop trying to not get attached? I hate this... I'm so tired. Chat Icon
I went to a baby's ryme time class w/ my nephew @ the library today and ran into someone I haven't seen in almost 2 years. She went thru IF too, and saw my old RE. Had several m/c's then got pg, and had a stillborn @ 8 months. Chat Icon She was with her 9 month old son. Chat Icon I was SO thrilled to see her and she LOUDLY (in front of all the people at the "mommy and me" class even though that wasn't what it was called) says "OMG!!!! You had a baby! Congratulations! He's beautiful" and I just sat there like... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon and said, No, but thank you - he's my nephew. The rest of the class I wanted to cry... Chat Icon Yet I knew to expect this when I agreed to it, but I also hadn't just suffered a loss.
I filled her in after class which of course made her feel even worse. Chat Icon Chat Icon My head is just spinning b/c w/o a plan I don't feel like we're working towards anything... I feel like we're standing still, and I can't tread anymore... it hurts too much.

Thank you! Good news is SIL works from home 3 days a week, so if I let her know we were doing the transfer I'm sure she would help me as much as she could as far as lifting him in and out of the crib, etc...
She usually works in her office in their basement but I'm sure if I asked her to she'd stay up as much as she could, unless she had a conf. call she had to be on.
