What have you done for flu?
DH & DS have the flu. My throat & ears are starting to hurt & I think I'm next. (We all had flu shots in Nov but I guess it doesn't matter!) Just started third trimester.
Anyone know if it's safe to take Tamiflu? Is it even worth it, is it helpful? Otherwise I guess I'll just ride it out & hope it won't be too bad (theirs seemed like a bad cold, we wouldn't have thought flu until we brought ds to the emergency room earlier today when his fever spiked really high suddenly & it made me nervous).
Is there anything else I can do? I'm not normally big on taking medication but will if I should.

Re: What have you done for flu?
I wouldn't take tamiflu pregnant. Try elderberry syrup. Good luck

Tyleno, lots of liquids and rest. As far as other medications, I'd ask your doctor.

Unfortunately there's a strain of flu going around different then the one the shot was for. Get lots of rest and stay hydrated.

My doctor told me that it's safe to take tamiflu pregnant and he would recommend taking it rather than getting the full blown flu. Talk to your doctor.

Re: What have you done for flu?
I also had the flu shot this year and got the flu about a month later.
My doc said it was ok to take tamiflu and I was in my third trimester as well. I'm glad I took it bc it made me feel better faster and I didn't have any side effects at all.
I personally think (and so did my dr) that taking tamiflu is better than getting a nasty bout of the flu while 30 weeks pregnant.

Re: What have you done for flu?
Ok I just saw on the news that flu can lead to sepsis... now I'm so nervous about this especially since DS is only 18 months old, ugh.
Thanks for the responses! I have a prescription for it, but my symptoms haven't escalated really yet so I'm holding off.
I will call the OB, but take Tylenol in the meanwhile.

You have to take the tamiflu within the first 48 hours of feeling sick or it doesn't work. Have you had fever yet? I'll tell you I had the flu and took the tamiflu. I felt better within 1 day, no side effects. My kids got the flu, no tamiflu, and they were sick for 5 days. The flu this year is no joke. If you think you have it, take the tamiflu. It makes a world of difference.
