What have you/would you spend on a weekend family getaway (3 nights)? POLL
Just curious to see what you would spend - or have spent - for a 3/4 day vacation with hubby & child(ren) including room, food, activities... NO airfare.

Depends on the vacation.
We did 3 night in Disney this last Spring. So it was in the higher end. We also went before the prices went up for the high season. We spend about $1200 on hotel and food (3 nights/4 days) but we don't have huge sit down lunch/dinner. We are OK eating a salad. So for our trip to Disney we kept it very reasonable and only went to a "restaurant" type 1 night.
We are going to Great Wolf Lodge and that's expensive too. It's $250 per ight off season/vacation. Otherwise we would spend $400 per night.
I could not justify $400 per night.

hmm...this is tough. If your staying in a hotel, they can be expensive depending on where you go, I would base how much I am gonna spend on where I am going. Like say I was going to OC, Maryland. I would spend extra bc i would want to be on the boardwalk and close to the shops. KWIM?
But i guess I would say I would spend around 1K.

I think it really depends upon where you are going, what level hotel you stay at and where you eat. We have spent anywhere from 600-2500 for a vacation that you are describing.

def. depends on where your going. We've gone up to Yankee Candle factory/CoCo Key and it was on the lower end while as a PP said they went to Disney for that amount.
Maybe if you included an idea of what kind of vacation it will be, that will help give a better idea where to answer in the poll

Yes, and we stayed at a luxury hotel on the monorail. But our food budget was lower than someone who would eat at full service restaurants for example.
So it all depends! Someone could have spend half at an economy hotel or the same if they had an economy hotel but went to restaurants for every meals.
Let's just say that DH and I were willing to spend $1K+ for that time vacation at Disney but not to watch leaves turning red for the Fall season. KWIM?
Depends what you want to do.
What do you have in mind?

It really depends on where you are going.
I've done short trips to Europe for 4 days where it was pretty pricey. Airfare obviously swings the max total price.
For local driving, I wouldn't want to spend more than $500 per day max.

Depends...we did Mystic one year, probably cost like $600 or less total. 3 days
This year we did Lancaster PA 4 nights and everything that could go wrong DID...And we had to rent a car which was over $500 initself...so it was like a $1500 vacation when it was suppossed to be a cheap one. LOL

We just did 3 days/2 nights in PA. We went to Crayola Factory, Chocolate World at Hershey, and a Day Out With Thomas. We stayed in a 2 room suite in Lancaster, PA. We were planning on Dutch Wonderland, not Hershey, but it rained the entire day, so we had no choice. I spent more at Hershey than I would have at DW.
We spent less than $500, including gas and tolls from NY to PA.

I'm in the minority here but I say at least $500 per day. Unless you're getting a really great deal or something.

yea we are doing Great Wolf Lodge at the end of the year and i think we are spending about $1,000 for 3 nights. that's including food and lodging and everything on premises. we priced Disney and they wanted $2,000 without airfare. so we are going with the cheaper of the two. Santa is on a budget this year!

Re: What have you/would you spend on a weekend family getaway (3 nights)? POLL
Thanks! We're thinking of either a cruise, disney or just somewhere in FL for a few nights in Oct. Priced out a cruise and it's just under $1k for a 3-night to the bahamas on a really nice, new, big ship. Disney would probably be a bit more if we did 3 nights & the parks each day...
Just debating whether we should skip a trip this fall, save the money and put it towards something big in the spring.
