What holiday activities are you planning on doing with LO?

I am trying to put a list together of some fun things to do with DS this holiday season before it gets to Christmas and I realize I didn't do anything. What do you plan on doing with your family this holiday season?

We are going to the Polar Express in Essex Ct and we are decorating gingerbread houses at a local cafe by me that does it

We did gingerbread university last year. Hoping to do it this year as well

Were going to tag our tree tomorrow then cut it down day after thanksgiving

great thread! will have to try some of these ideas. We usually just do an annual trip to hicks to see santa. may take DD to the city this y ear to see the tree/windiws on 5th ave

If any of you are going to be in NJ, the short hills mall is having a huge frozen event for the next few weeks. I plan on taking the kids.
There is a gingerbread event at our local arboretum that we wnt to last year and I want to go back this year.
We will make a gingerbread house.
I would like to go into NYC with the kids to see the tree and to the shops at Columbus circle.

We always go to the city to see Santa at Macy's. As a kid that was the "real" Santa for me so I'm passing the tradition along. We usually combo that with Rockefeller Center.

This year we are also taking DS1 to the Christmas Spectacular.

We also cut down our own tree out east.

I'll have to check into some of these gingerbread events. Those sound cool!

DD will be 1 this month but we are doing:

Radio City Xmas Spectacular
Bayport Light Show
Gingerbread University
Breakfast w/ Santa at Black Forrest Brew Haus

We are also hosting a cookie swap party and having DD first bday parties in the mix whith hosting the holidays.

Botanical garden train show
We end up going to Xmas parties with a Santa appearance
Beyond that, we decorate our house & go to our parents house day of
We go ice skating a lot.
This year, we may try the kids at skiing
We do also go to hicks! I love their decorations.
We did radio city last year, but weren't crazy about it (kids too young at 2&3)
Did big apple circus this year, which we LOVED (at Lincoln center).

What holiday activities are you planning on doing with LO?

Last year we did the Girl Scouts Holiday Lights Show and the Botanical Garden Train Show, and cut down our own tree like we do every year.

This year we're doing both the Jones Beach Lights Show and the Girl Scouts Lights Show (DS absolutely loved the lights show last year). We're also starting Elf on the Shelf, and I wanted to make a Candyland Forest with him (I did it with my class last year, we use green food coloring to dye frosting and then put it on ice cream cones to make it look like trees and add candy). We'll cut our own tree down again this year too. There's always a Christmas parade in town too (last year we missed it because DS had strep), so we'll probably do that too.

What holiday activities are you planning on doing with LO?

Whatever I can fit in before the new baby comes! I definitely want to get to the mall to see santa, decorate the house, bake cookies (I'll probably freeze a few batches of dough very soon and then have DD help me bake and decorate them closer to christmas). Our library does gingerbread houses so I'd like to take her to decorate one there. Hopefully we can do the bayport light show and maybe a few other little things.
