If I were bringing my family, I'd give more than $100. $100 bond would be if I were attending solo.

I want to be pre-emtive.
If there is no positive comment to this to question, please refrain from adding to it.
(meaning please don't start in with comments on why should x make a difference, or y is not right).

Re: What is an appropriate gift amount for a first communion?
I have a family of 4 and I do not want to be cheap, but I guess I am. I only gave my neices and nephews $100, no restaurants, just family at home. I was thinking $100 would be appropriate for this, but it seems that might be too little because there are four of us.
HOw much would be good? I am not even sure I can afford this event.

Re: What is an appropriate gift amount for a first communion?
I would go for a bond because ultimately it's for the child & will double in value when it matures. So $100 is a $200 bond, kwim?
Everyone is different. I'd say give whatever you can afford. Speaking a parent of 2 kids that made their Holy Communion last year, I wanted those people to celebrate the day. The gift was the last focus for us & our kids were suprised to even get gifts. One thing that seemed to be a big deal was the leading up to the day. My sister took my daughter out to get her ears pierced & pick out her fist pair of earrings.

If it is a girl, I would get her jewelry. I think $100 is fine.

I say give whatever you can afford and are comfortable with.
I think $100 is plenty.
