What is the deal with Kelly Rippa and Michael Straihan?
So he broke the news on air, like no one told her and SHE learned during the live broadcast?

It wasn't on air.
She was told about 10 mins before it was publicly announced.

I don't blame her for feeling like it was a slap in the face. And she's back today so it's not like she's avoiding him until he leaves. She just took a few days off to get control of her feelings and move on. I applaud her for knowing that she needed to take some time to process.

I agree.
I love what she said. It has to do with, communication, consideration and respect in the work place. Being with the company for 26 yrs it's not just a job it's her 2nd home. Couldn't agree more.
Here is how it went down this morning:
The co-hosts came out on Tuesday holding hands, but Ripa chose to stand alone as tearfully addressed the audience, who gave her a standing ovation. "Guys, guys, guys! Our long national nightmare is over!" she quipped. "I am fairly certain that there are trained professional snipers with trained tranquilizer darts in case I go too far off message."
Ripa said that she needed some time to process the news of Strahan's departure, admitting that it caught her off guard. "The love, the show of support to this bizarre time has been really overwhelming. I really needed a couple of days to gather my thoughts after 26 years at this company, I earned the right," she said. "In that time, I gained some perspective. I always speak from the heart and I didn't want to come out here and just say something I might regret. So, what transpired over the course of these days has been extraordinary. It started a much bigger conversation about communication and consideration and, most importantly, respect in the workplace."
She added, "And since we're being honest, I don't consider this just a workplace, this is my second home. This is a place that I have devoted myself to not just because of you, our loyal viewers, but because of all the producers and the crew who work on this show."
Ripa insisted that she was happy for her co-host's new job. "I am thrilled for Michael. I am thrilled for you. This is a tremendous opportunity. I couldn't be and we couldn't be prouder of you and of everything we've accomplished together," she said as the audience applauded. She then quipped, "I just want to say one thing, my dad, who was a bus driver for 30 years, thinks we are all crazy!"

I think she handled herself well this morning. What she said is totally true, it's all about respect and she was given none. I understand that it had to be kept under wraps for the most part but ABC was the one to choose when it was to be released. There was no reason why they all couldn't sit down on a Friday post production meeting and telling her they were announcing it on Monday. To give this woman a 10 minute heads up is just wrong.

This was the second time they were doing that to her, and for a person who rarely misses work, she totally deserved it! I loved that she addressed the issue and didn't leave anyone hanging.

I just read that ABC announced Michael will be leaving Mid May and not September as originally announced.
An ABC spokesperson said, “After meeting with the producers of both ‘Live’ and ‘Good Morning America,’ and after speaking with Kelly and Michael, we have decided on a plan that best advantages both shows for the future.
“To that end, Michael’s last day on ‘Live’ will be on Friday, May 13, which not only gives the show the chance to have a nice send-off for him during the May book, but to also immediately begin the on-air search for a new co-host.
“This plan also allows ‘GMA’ to start integrating Michael into the show more often this summer before his full-time start in September.”

I'm sure she's not the one picking stories to talk about and she's right - she doesn't have a frame of reference while Michael does. Maybe he's overly sensitive of the situation - leading to his eyebrow raise, but people on FB comments are acting like Kelly said something horrible. *shrug* To me it just looks like she's talking about the story.

I dont know...I watched it and thought it was a bit of a dig. Just the way it was said.
And Im a fan of hers. But between this and the contract neg comment yesterday, shes starting to get on my nerves.
