What is the difference between a gestational sac...
and yolk sac?
I went to the Dr. for a sono today and he just said that there was the sac and he thought he saw a faint heartbeat way in the back. I saw an empty sac.
What is the difference between these 2?

The ges sac is just the "black hole" where the baby lives. The yolk sac is what the baby feeds from and looks like a white dot in the black hole. The yolk sac is just one step further than the ges sac.

the first time i went with this pregnancy they saw the gestational sac...then next week they saw the yolk sac, and the week after the heartbeat...
So i am assuming that is the order that it goes! How many weeks are you now?
