what is the pemisis on the coat in the car seat thing

I couldnt see the video at work and didnt watch it last night. I never heard of this. Why no coat in car seats?

It's really no BULKY coat in the carseat.

I think it interferes how the belts really work and may not be as effective in a crash setting.

I *always* post on threads like this that my DH is a huge advocate of not putting them in a jacket in the carseat b/c then the straps aren't tight enough against the body, they are tight against the coat. And if there is a collision then DC can be ejected. He has seen it happen

I understand taking THIS video with a grain of salt, and not wanting to buy their products, but this is a real thing.

Basically, bulky coats have a lot of air in them. In a crash they can compact, leaving too much space between the straps and the child.

I think of it as the 'Space Bag' theory. You pack the space bags so much, then you vacuum out all the air and the bag gets much smaller. This shows you how much air is actually in our clothes. Where am I going with this? Um, don't pack your kids in Space Bags.
