What is the silliest fear that you have?
I ALWAYS flush the toilet after I dispose of a bug to ensure that the next time I go to the bathroom, it doesn't crawl up my butt as revenge.

I don't like being under structures - like tunnels, parking garages etc. A building that I sometimes have to go to for work (pre-covid) has a parking garage and an outdoor parking lot that is further away. I will park in the outdoor lot because I hate walking through the parking garage (but I'm OK if it's the top level of the parking garage). Another example is getting stuck at a traffic light under an overpass - I'd much rather be further back in the line of traffic than one of the cars that has to wait for the light underneath the overpass.

Flying over the ocean as opposed to over land. Something about not being able to make an emergency landing if needed freaks me out.

Me tooooo!!! I hate being caught under the overpass especially, I get in a panic. I think it plays into my claustrophobia.

Re: What is the silliest fear that you have?
I am terrified of any kind of bug, insect, spider, etc. I do not do creepy crawlies.
I am also very afraid of open water (like the middle of the ocean open water) so I will probably never go on a cruise.

Re: What is the silliest fear that you have?
haunted houses
It's a silly fear to me because I am very interested in the supernatural, but I am so scared of haunted houses, like the ones for Halloween with actors.
I think I would be more willing to go into a real haunted house than a fake one.

What is the silliest fear that you have?
Bridges. I cannot breathe when I drive over them. I threw up before running the NYC marathon because I was so panicked about the bridge.

What is the silliest fear that you have?
Never happened, hopefully never will but I have this nutty fear about being buried in sand. Don't know where it came from but I go into full panic mode when I see someone buried with only their head showing.

I have these tiny frogs that hang out on my lawn and jump up and scare me. The way I scream you would think they're trying to murder me.

Re: What is the silliest fear that you have?
Drains, especially in pools. My dad told me if I got too close to them, they would suck me down.
Squirrels. Again, my dad told me they have teeth like pins.
I was more scared when I was young, but I still am a bit uneasy about these things. Thanks, dad.

Reverse lights on cars- If I'm walking in a parking lot and a car near me puts it in reverse, my heart races and I dash away!

Re: What is the silliest fear that you have?
Falling down stairs. I swear to you I must have died by falling down stairs in a past life. Whenever I approach stairs to go down I'm super cautious. People laugh at me. And forget escalators. I always wait an extra beat or an extra stair tread to come before I step on. It's like I think I'm going to trip in between stairs or something on it. One time we were in an airport and had our luggage and I had to roll my luggage onto the escalator step and I couldn't do it. I freaked out, panicked, left DH and DD and ran over to the elevator- to go up ONE floor. LOL

I am severely claustrophobic. I don't take elevators or use the subway. I was stuck underground for 3 hours on the Path train about 14 years ago and it was literally my worst nightmare.

Same - I'm always super cautious on stairs. And I worked at a mall once and heard the worst screaming from the middle of the mall. Turns out - a kid was running his foot along the edge of the stairs as the escalator went down and his foot was pulled under into the escalator. They had to disassemble the escalator to get his foot out. Ever since then, I freak when my son gets his foot too close to the edge of the stair and wall.
I also have a great fear of underwater creatures. It used to be so bad that I couldn't even look at photos of dolphins! It started when I saw an image of a guy and his son in a small boat and right below him was a giant freaking whale. The idea that something that BIG was right there freaked me out! There was a movie out a few years ago - Megaladon - that FREAKED ME OUT every time I saw the trailer and I couldn't switch fast enough.

Re: What is the silliest fear that you have?
Getting up at night in the dark... I always feel that someone is going to grab my feet from under the bed. So silly, I know but I can't help it.
Also going down on very long escalators. I feel I'm going to fall forward.

My mom is petrified of squirrels and passed it on to my sister. She will literally cross the street or go an entirely different route to avoid them.

I do the same thing with stairs and escalators! The fear of stepping on the down escalator especially is worse. The escalators on the top floor at the Queens mall always made me want to vomit and pass out, being so high up and the escalators being completely open with no walls or barriers and being able to look down to the ground floor. It's the fear of the escalator + the fear of heights x 1,000. Or the insanely steep and long escalator at the metro mall in Queens. I get queasy just thinking about it. I used to have to be forced onto them.

I watched a video once of a kayaker (I have to hand it to these people willing to brave the open ocean riding around in a matchbox) being lifted out of the water by a humpback whale that swam up under him and gave him and the tiny teacup he was sitting in a ride in the air. Just thinking about his experience had me sh1tting my pants and this guy's reaction was like "wahoo!" Lol These outdoorsy people sure have a steel set
But then I saw another video that was more my speed when a giant whale approached a boat and the father was like "wow so majestic" and the kid was screaming "I swear if you don't take me home right now I'm locking you up in shady pines!" I was like this kid is my spirit animal!
