what is this? acid reflux? something else?
my 1 mth old has been on alimentum since birth (older dd has food allergies which we're trying to avoid with this one) and within the past 2 weeks or so has become SOOOO incredibly fussy. If she's awake, she's usually screetching - no joke. she's in some type of distress, after SOME feedings, not all, which is odd. She just scrunches up her body and wails It is so hard to see and not know how to help.
She has vomited some bottles - not all, and a few times she's even "coughed" which I can only describe best as sounding exactly like a cat coughing up a furball
Does this sound like acid reflux maybe? Any other ideas? We just switched her over to nutramigen but I have a feeling that won't do much. I may call her ped to research further.

Sounds like it could be reflux. I know my DS would do the same things when he was just born. Feedings were a nightmare, arching his back, crying thru them.. etc.. horrible. I switched to Nutramigen, and that didnt help either. My DS had a combo of acid reflux and colic. WONDERFUL MIX!! Only time helped him. By 6 months things started to get better.. But I would still call your ped. Good luck.

That sounds like reflux to me. Did your ped. tell you to start her on Alimentum without trying regular formula? Because that is so thin compared to regular formula, so it comes back up a lot easier. Poor baby. That cough is similar to what Ava would do at that age.

I don't want her on a regular formula because the hypoallergenic could decrease her risk of food allergies which is really important to me.
Do you think it's weird that she doesn't do this with every feeding though? Sometimes she's okay, other times she's a mess!
I am going to see how she does today and will call the ped tomorrow if it continues.

It sounds like reflux to me as well - DS was just diagnosed with this. When he is eating he will all of a sudden squirm, arch his back, make a face and then wail. We just started him on medication and I am considering giving Enfamil AR to him for a trial.
Definitely call your ped - it'll make you both feel better.

Re: what is this? acid reflux? something else?
thanks all.
We've switched her to nutramigen and she's been a lot better. No more spitting up, once that weird cough once.
She's still very fussy for long periods of awake time but I think she's just fussy/colicky - not necessarily related to digestive or formula issues.
