When I had my son, I was pushing when I wasnt supposed to. To tell you the truth the pushing is the best part. I ripped pretty bad, funny thing is I didnt feel it till the next day. When I was in the delivery room being stiched up I didnt even realize it. That might have been from the exhaustion. Went in Tuesday had him Thursday.

My worst fear is that something goes wrong during the labor. The pain and all of that other scary stuff is like 1% of what I'm concerned about - the babies' health is 99%.

See, this is actually my fear, the pain AFTER the labor, not necessarily during. Maybe I am stupid for not being more scared of the pain of labor

Re: what is/was your...
The worst fears for me were my water breaking in public and getting an episiotomy. I was TERRIFIED about getting the episiotomy to the point that it made me sick to my stomach thinking about it.
My water never broke; my doctor broke it in the hospital. I had an episiotomy, but at the time he was doing it, I really didn't care. I was so focused on delivering the baby that nothing really bothered me.

This is absolutely my biggest fear as well - I'm not even worried about the pain for myself at ALL, just that the baby will be delivered safe, sound and healthy

This was also my fear. But so much is going on that if you did they most likely will not tell you. I'm not sure if I did but after being in labor for 2 days, you don't have much to be ashamed about. Don't worry about it.

My worst fear is something going wrong - that won't go away until I have a healthy baby in my arms.
My vain fear is that someone I know sees me poop on the table! I know a lot of the ppl at the hospital I'm delivering at...god forbid it's someone I supervise later on.

Re: what is/was your...
Dying during delivery - I had dreams about it & in my dreams it was always when DH wasn't with me. When I was in labor with Madeline & the doctor said "Ok I see the baby's head, you can push." I said "I'm going to try to wait for my husband." I tried to wait. Then I thought maybe if I just push a little bit, but not a lot - he'll get here. So I did & out she popped. And I lived.
I also had nightmares that I gave birth to a full grown adult female that looked like me. It didn't happen either- she was a baby that looked like me.

Re: what is/was your...
Mine was when the baby was born and they put her on my chest she would turn blue and there would be no cries and wouldnt be breathing. I had soo many nightmares about that.
The pooping thing, believe me, I was worried about it too, when it comes down to it You won't care!
Since I had an epi, and you can't feel or hold up your legs I had my DH and my mom with me when I gave birth, after soo many people see your hoo hoo you won't care what in the hell happens, you just want that baby out and the pushing to end.

Re: what is/was your...
I would love to go natural, so one fear is that I will not be able to (long labor, etc.) and will need the epi.
I also fear needing a c-section.

Re: what is/was your...
Not being near the hospital and going into labor prematurely. DH had a dream about me giving birth to a premature baby boy in some room...it wasn't a hospital. He has delivered babies before as a paramedic so the part about him delivering the kid doesn't freak me out as much as the baby being premature.
