What is wrong with people?? Shower related..long vent

My shower is in no way a surprise. I've been involved in the entire planning and we even contributed financially on some things. The invites, which I addressed and mailed out, were only addressed to women.

What is wrong with some people asking if they can bring their young kids or husbands?!?!?! The kicker today was one of my godmother's asked my mom why was the shower going to be so early in the afternoon? ARE YOU F"IN KIDDING ME!!!!

To IL's neighbor who until two weeks ago I never knew she didn't drive: why no one mentioned to you you could hitch a ride w/ my MIL or SIL is beyond me after you told MIL that you wouldn't go to the shower. Why? B/C your daughter wasn't invited and you needed a ride. But then again, it doesn't surprise me that my MIL wouldn't think to say you could ride with her or even you to ask if you could go with her. I shouldn't be surprised!

To my mom's dumb friends: NO your husband or bratty arse kids are not invited either. Apparently you read the entire invite but failed to read the envelope that only has YOUR name on it!! Please refrain from leaving messages on my mom's answer machine that the family will be there! Your giving her and me a headache!

And to my beloved godmother: you are really a winner and I'm surprised at you with your behavior. How dare you ask my mom why the shower is in the early afternoon and that it's much too early. This is not a party, it's a SHOWER. The shower is at a restaurant you nut and that wasn't a good enough answer for you. Maybe once you start planning your daughters' showers then you will know why it's at 1:00PM!!! And btw it's being held in Long Island b/c it's convenient for me, DH and my parents. It's also more inexpensive (which btw is none of your business!!!). Complain all you want but if you keep it up I'm not inviting you to the Christening!!!

Same thing kind of happenend to me too...shower invites were sent out ONLY TO WOMEN. there was no option with guest ..and one girl calls my sister and says i will definately be coming but unfortunately my daughter cant make it (her daughter is 8) UM SHE WAS NEVER INVITED My sister called me fuming and to be honest so was I ...now there are other woman who have children now i am scared one of them is bound to bring their child...I am sorry if i sound rude..but my sister is the only one throwing my shower( my mother passed away years ago) she is a sahm and doesnt have a lot of her own money and she is gracious enough to be throwing me my shower so we are keeping the amount of people low so she doesnt have to spend tons of money . I just hope these woman please keep their children at home..the shower is from 12 to 3 it is going to go really quick but i soo feel your frustration

I don't get the men thing. I have never been to a shower with men there. I understand that some people do Jack and Jill showers but I wouldn't assume that.

Yes, people are very annoying when it comes to showers. Sometimes they say things that even make you feel like crap.

ETA: Personally I did not care if people needed to bring their kids, if they asked. Husbands are out of the question. I will have 3 men there...my DH, my BIL, and my father. That's it!

It's not just my crazy guests that do this then!? I don't get people I really don't... They don't surprise me!

same situation here... people are just rude & inconsiderate sometimes. They think shower/party = free food for the family.. at least my family & ILs do!!

2 weeks before my shower my DH politely explained to 3 of his aunts that since the shower was so large, we wouldn't have room for children. Okay, fine.. no kids, no big deal... they complained & said it was rude, but whatever. It's at our house, we were contributing financially, we were expecting 70+ people, if kids were invited it would have been over 100!! (MIL is 1 of 16 kids, so that says it all)


do you know that they STILL brought their kids?!?!?!!??! When I arrived at the shower my sister & DH had to do damage control & meet me at the door to calm me down so I wouldn't put my fist through the wall....


It totally sucks- but it's okay in the end. We let my MIL lace into them
