what is yoru day like with your newborn?
MY son is 3 weeks old and i sometimes wonder if i am stimulating him enough. Im not sure i really should be doing during the day with him. He wakes up around 6 am to eat and i give him bottle and lay him back down sometimes he will go back to sleep in the pack n play but lately i have been putting him in swing and he will doze off for a bit. Then he wakes up i play and talk to him and then it is time to eat a gain i feed him and lay him in the crib. (im trying to do naps in crib to make transition to crib for overnites) then he wakes up and i try and play some more.. but he seems to be afraid of his toys. He wont touch them and when i try to make his hand touch them he pulls away really fast. Yet he will touch my dog. Very strange. Just wondering what i should be doing. I feel like im constantly just holding him and putting him to sleep. Thanks i guess as a first time mom im just trying to make sure im doing everything to the best of my ability.

I have a toddler too. But my newborn is 2 weeks old and she pretty much eats/sleeps/poop. I find diaper changes and feedings are mostly when I try and be able to interact with her. I try and show her things and talk to her. At this age shes mostly sleeping (thats when they do their growing).

Abby is going to be 2 weeks old on Monday- but I feel the same way- we eat, sleep, poop...sometimes she will sit in her bouncer...when she is eating, I sing to her, talk to her, make up stories to tell her... but basically, it is a sleep, eat, poop pattern...

Re: what is yoru day like with your newborn?
At three weeks old, a baby is basically just an eating, sleeping, pooping machine. The baby really doesn't respond to toys or anything yet because that takes a while for them to notice. I think DS started around 2/3 months to look at toys, and just at 3-4.5 months will grasp toys and talk to them.
They get more interactive, but for now, at 3 weeks, don't worry that you aren't stimulating the baby enough, the baby is still very new.

those early days are hard...its a challenge just to make sure they are well fed and dry
dont put too much pressure on yourself
i remember i would read to and sing to DS and sometimes put on baby einstein
we used to go for walks every morning --right to starbucks and i would feed him there---but that was when he was about 2 months

Re: what is yoru day like with your newborn?
DD will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. Our days consists of eating, diaper changes and sleeping. Lately she's been staying awake longer than the first week. When she's awake, I talk to her, make funny faces and sing to her, she just stares at me. Sometimes I feel like I am not doing enough to play with her, that I am just her boring old mom

Re: what is yoru day like with your newborn?
These are some things I do with my DD: play classical music, put her on her playmat, read to her, put her in the swing, infant to toddler rocker.
There is a website called geniusbabies.com that has red, black and white toys for infants. I bought some things from there.
I don't interact with her for that long...she starts to get fussy. A little activity is a lot to them!
