what is your bathroom sink made of?
We are designing 2 new baths and blackman is pushing granite - but their selection is limited. I need ideas!
Post pics if you have them!

Re: what is your bathroom sink made of?
We went with marble (white and gray) instead of granite. I couldnt find a granite I really liked and I thought the marble went better with the our dark brown vanity

You mean the countertop or the actual sink?
We went with marble because granite just didn't work with the look of our bathroom. Even if you do go with granite, you certainly don't have to get it from Blackman, go to a stone yard where you can pick out your actual slab.
Good luck.

If you can make your way into Queens head to Stone Expo in College Point. I bought my bathroom granite there for over $400 less than a stone yard in North Babylon quoted me for the same granite.

I have this sink from ikea - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80074445
(pics in album too)
We have a small bathroom though and having this big sink seems to make it feel bigger - we get a lot of compliments on it actually! But it "is" the vanity top really.

Sink is made of glass and it's set in Bluestone.

Re: what is your bathroom sink made of?
My master and full bath are both marble, the half bath is granite. We went to our granite yard for the marble, they came and measured the vanity and it was cut and installed within 2 days.

Thanks - especially for the advice about the stone yards!
Girls who used marble:
Blackman said that marble wouldn't be good for the boys' bathroom because it isn't durable. Do you find that it's hard to maintain or that it stains easily?

We have the marble in both the kids bathroom and mine. Our stone yard said as long as it is sealed and we keep up with it, it will be fine. They also said if something major were to stain it they could come and buff it out. I feel as long as I don't put red wine on it, normal soaps and toothpaste will be fine. I bought many of my fixtures from blackman (we just built a house), but would not have gotten my granite from them. You can do so much better in terms of price and selection at a stone yard, where they specialize in just that. My stone yard even supplied the sink and attached it to the marble slab for a nominal cost.
