We do a big brunch in the AM with my family and open presents.

Then coma.

Then dinner at my BIL's house with DH's family. Possibly back to my family for dessert.

I was just informed too, that I am doing Xmas day, lol! So far I know I am making:

-Standing rib roast in a horseradish and garlic crust or in an onion au jus (haven't decided which way, yet)

-Scalloped potatoes

-Some kind of veggie

Haven't figured out the apps or dessert yet.

My sister makes it. It's artichoke hearts, cheese, and some other stuff in a pie crust.

Re: What is your Christmas Day Menu???

I am having the hardest time deciding this year's menu. there are only a few of us and I will be 8.5 months pregnant so I am trying to keep it simple - which i am sure won't happen!

Originally I was going to do pasta and meatballs as the main course, but we have a turkey frozen and i am thinking maybe i should use it now so i can make room in the freezer.

here is the menu as of now:

antipasti - fresh mozz, roasted peppers, salami, prosciutto
homemade bread
meatballs
not sure what else yet

turkey
stuffing
mashed potatoes
veggie of some sort
mac and cheese or some other pasta dish
chicken cutlets (for me since i dont like turkey)

chocolate ice box cake
gingerbread cake
assortment of cookies

Re: What is your Christmas Day Menu???

I'm not cooking, but this is what my parents have prepared every year. One big glutunous feast. This is why I never try to take holidays from them. I am "in training"

1. Beverages
cocktails/wine
nuts

2. Cold appetizers
cocktail shrimp
seafood salad
prosciutto, sausage and various hard cheeses (most of which my family has made/smoked themself)
pickled peppers, pickles
bacala (prepared almost like a tuna-very yummy northern italian style)

3. Hot appetizers
stuffed mushrooms
stuffed clams
seasoned artichokes
shrimp fra diavolo

4. Pasta
Homeade flat pasta with a light anchiovi/baccala sauce or truffle sauce

5. Soup
Chicken soup

6.Main
Filet Mignon and Lobster, roasted red baby potatoes, sauteed haricots verts (string beans)

7.Salad
Raddicio

8. Chestnuts

9. Coffee/Dessert

10. Liquors/Liquer

every year it's done the same way my whole life. I am learning slowly but have a lot to live up to! Lots of preparation goes into this day
