What is your LO favorite place to eat (not fast food)
I'm coming up to NY (just me & my oldest 4yo) & I figured I'd see if there were any favorite "kids friendly" (mind you she is very well mannered in restaurants) places to take her.

Flo's famous in bay port. J&r steak bc you can draw on the table. I hop bc he can get breakfast for dinner. Ruby Tuesday's has mini burgers he likes.

Not sure what area you will be in but we just took our DS to Grillfire in Merrick. It was a bit dark and noisy, but they have a really impressive kids menu, and he loved the warm pretzels they give you at the beginning of the meal and the cotton candy at the end.

That sounds like exactly what I had in mind. I'm not really a chainy person, although she loves chilis & I like their kid menu too. Here in NC I've found so many restaurants that I can enjoy, but she can the kids & we feel relaxed.
I'm open to locations cause I'll be all the way out east & need a place coming on & off the island.

We needed a dinner idea & I years ago was never a fan of their food. Has it gotten better? We can do ice cream anywhere (personally never thought friendlys as anything special, but she did have her 1st mister softie). Besides we want Ralph's ices. I think that's better & don't have them in NC!

Friendlys!! It is serious a children's staple and even if you don't like the food (which is pretty decent) take her there. She'll love it!!

We go to a Dominican restuarant in Uniondale, it's on Front St.. The kids love the chicken and rice. They get bread and dip in the the beans.

I agree. We've taken DS (age 2) to Grillfire 3 times. The kids menu is better than most places although it hurts to pay $15 for a steak for a 2yo (he's a steak lover though )
It's loud enough that a child talking/being a kid won't bother anyone and has good food.

Re: What is your LO favorite place to eat (not fast food)
Our DD has done well at the Lessing restaurants - The Post Office in Babylon or Maxwells in Islip. She loves anywhere with music so we regularly bring her to Shandon Court in East Islip. Other places that work well this time of year are restaurants with outdoor spaces - Salvatores in Bay Shore is one of our favorites. We also don't like large chains and basically bring DD anywhere that is family-oriented and noisy.
