What is your opinion of the best coffee for at home brewing?
My bil is one of those 'only the best' kind of people and we bought him this percolator that he wanted but want to throw in a bag or two of a really terrific coffee.
Any suggestions?

I'm curious to know myself! We use 8'O-clock bean as it won some taste tests in my beloved Cooks Illustrated mag.

I buy what on sale They all taste the same to me..ETA: When I make them at home that is. Outside the house I can tell good coffee from bad but in my house they all taste the same.

Irving Farm and Brazil Daterra are great brands.. but not easy to find. I have only gotten them as gifts. I usually by Ruta Maya Organic Dark Roast at Costco. It's wonderful.
I just ordered some Kona from Koa Plantation.. I'll tell you how it is!

I am a big fan of espresso in the percolator. I use Lavazza in the black can.
you could also go with Illy (which is way more expensive).
if you have a fairway near you, they have a great coffee section and usually a person there who knows a ton about coffee who could recommend some stuff.

I don't know about the best, but I have been drinking lately a Vietnamese coffee that has some chicory in it and its amazing. Really different and delish! Its called Zgoz. Its not expensive, look online for it.

I'm a big fan of Gevalia (you have to order it online though) or Seattles Best.

Big fan of Fairway coffee.
I buy the sulawesi water decaf or the sumatra water decaf. You wouldn't know it's decaf.

If you want chickory coffee you can get cafe du monde-thats pretty good.
We brew Starbucks, whole foods breakfast blend or Trader Joe's French Roast mostly. we believe in fair trade coffee so thats why we choose those brands

Re: What is your opinion of the best coffee for at home brewing?
I feel like coffee is so subjective, it's hard to pick ONE that will be delicious for everyone.
I generally only buy coffee that is fair trade certified and locally roasted (or roasted by smaller companies). For some reason, no matter the roaster, Guatemalan beans are my favorite.
