What it takes to get a good Christmas card photo - My checklist
Here is my checklist. You can adapt as you want  
This is over the course of a month's time:
- Schedule appointment
- Take day off work because photo studios are MURDER on weekends and holidays
- Reschedule appointment because you realized previous appt was during son's cranky / nap time
- Purchase son's adorable outfit
- Coordinate outfits with husband
- Convince husband to participate
- Give husband a "favor" for participating
- Pee on a stick due to results of "favor"
- Sigh of relief at BFN
Day of appointment
- Put child down for nap
- Shower
- Dry hair into SuperHair style
- Put on makeup
- Change shirt 5 times because you are SuperFat and nothing fits well
- Finally just realize you are going to have photoshop the fat rolls
- Take son and husband to mall
- Fight with son to sit still for more than 2 seconds
- Take pics
- Pick out pictures
- Pay $$$ 
- Realize you are going to print them at Costco instead of paying arm and leg at Kiddie Kandids
- Photoshop picture
- Post pics on LIF and ask for advice
- Send to Costco for prints
- Pick up prints
- Stuff and address envelopes
- Stick a stamp on it and call it a day
- Remember fondly the pre-child days of just buying a pre-made card

Yup, that sounds about right to me except for when I was taking my own picture. So I'd have to add:
Take kids to location.
Act cheery.
Offer bribes.
Threaten.
Encourage your kid to smile as you yell angrily "Smile!"
Take them to a second location because first location didn't work out.
Act cheery.
Offer bribes. First snacks. Then sweets. Then toys.
Threaten.
Pay up with bribed toys.

I do mine at home...
Plan the shoot beforehand.
Day of shoot, wait until DC are both in a good mood (this could take a few hours, or a few seconds, you never know...)
Dress them real quick
Put them in front of props/scenery
Snap pics like crazy
Photoshop whichever one doesn't have either one of them screaming or upset...
Start planning for next year's cards....

This is me except I took alll preparations and had all ready (no sickness/no scratches on face)
THEN THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT ON THE BELT PKWY AND I MISSED MY SUMMER LYN APPT
very MAD mommy who has to control everything again for next sunday appt
