gender determination

HI I have a question. I am now 26 weeks. At my 20 week sono they told me I am having a girl - I saw 3 parallel lines. Is that a girl? I have heard of people being told they are having a girl and they had a boy. thank you - Shari

i have another sono at 30 weeks

Re: gender determination

I could tell right away thay mine was a girl because I was told to look for 3 lines, too.

(unless it is really a boy, then I am in trouble!!)

Re: gender determination

I had the three lines and they've checked 3 times (15 weeks, 20 weeks, and 30 weeks). Here is my 15 week "coochie" shot with her 3 lines (if yo ucan see the little arrow pointing at them)

Re: gender determination

I have heard that they aren't always accurate. They should be pretty accurate most of the time but there is always that chance they are wrong. Just keep asking when you get your sonos.Chat Icon

Re: gender determination

They can't be as positive when the sonogram shows a girl as when it shows a boy, but I still think they're pretty accurate today.

Re: gender determination

We should ask this in "Parenting" forum because the people in there already have their children so they could tell us if they were correct.Chat Icon

My sono at 17 weeks looked like this. DH won't let me "find out" what we're having, but based on this, I'm pretty certain it is a girl. I'll really feel awful if it is a boy, and "he" wasn't fully formed yet, but I was calling him a girl.Chat Icon

Re: gender determination

I am 12 weeks and 3 days today. I just had a sonogram yesterday and the tech told me I was having another boy in addition to the two I have. Although, I know I should not be ungrateful and I know the importance is in having a healthy child, but I still was hoping in my heart of hearts he might be wrong. Especially because this pregnancy is so much different from the first two. Can anyone out there tell me how accurate an ultrasound is at 12 weeks? Chat Icon

Re: gender determination

They never pointed out three lines with mine, but said it was a girl because they couldn't find the "frank and beans"

Re: gender determination

Yup! Yours definitely looks like a girl. I think mine will be a boy. As much as I wanted a girl. I thought that because it was done so soon it may be wrong but now looking at your sono I can see clearly now. Thanks!!

I say you still have a 50/50 chance. Male and female genetalia look the same at 12 weeks -- both have swollen nubs.
