Re: I was reading Pregnancy Mag yesterday and....
my understanding is that its almost expected in the deivery room...and they clean it up before most women even noticed that it happened.
all of the medical proffesionals that will be in the delivery room have seen it before...it will probably phase you more than it will phase them

The way I look at it, I have lots more to be concerned about in the delivery room.

I would expect that the excrutiating pain that one feels by pushing a baby out of your body takes away all other senses during that time period.
My mom who use to be a maternity nurse said so many woman had huge fears about this and not one woman ever care (some didn't even notice) when the time to push came.

The way I look at it, I have lots more to be concerned about in the delivery room.
There could have been a marching band, an orderly taping with a camcorder, my finger could have fallen off, and DH coulda sprouted a third eye....trust me you won't care WHAT is happening with anything except getting that baby out. Nurses are trained for this and very rarely will you actually know if you did this...
It was a fear of mine, but in retrospect not a huge concern IMO...

Completely agree - except for the videotape part.

There are lots of other smells that you might notice more I think amniotic fluid has a very distinct odor! But in the end I don't think that's what you'll focus on

Same here... it was no big deal really. At least you know you are doing something right (as far as the pushing was concerned lol) There are alot more important things to think about in that period of time.

Re: I was reading Pregnancy Mag yesterday and....
It's no biggie but I gave myself an enema before leaving for the hospital to be induced as per my Lamaze DVD and it was one of the smartest things I did

Same here... When I realized what was happening, I apologized to the nurse and she was like it's just part of the whole process. There was so much going on down there that I didn't even realize it when she cleaned it up and put a new pad under me.

Re: I was reading Pregnancy Mag yesterday and....
I Was goign to get an enima as well but had no need to. My body rid itself of everything as soon as the labor started.
I understand it is very common for women to get the runs right before going to labor. so, may be the nature will take care of everythign for ya!

Same here. I had a feeling it happened when I was pushing, but I didn't know for sure. I only knew when I overheard the dr and nurse.
Honestly I didn't give a rat's azz, after 2.5 hours of pushing, i didn't care what came out, I just wanted my babygirl!

It is VERY common. As a matter of fact this was my one fear while PG and whaddya know- i pooped it up while pushing. At that point- you don't really care anymore- the pressure and pain just overtake you and ya just want that baby out!

Re: I was reading Pregnancy Mag yesterday and....
According to DH I didnt poop (TMI: I shouldn't have since I went to the bathroom 4 times that day and aparently it was another sign of labor) but I pee every time I pushed. My poor son was peed on as he was brought into the world.
