Posted by girlygrl33 Thanks!!! Yup I just FM redstar too , to see by my temps when did I O, so I know better for next month. I HATE OPK's and I dont think they are accurate. I got my LH surge on CD12 but FF says I O'd on CD18- I think a 7 day range is kinda long to figure out from a surge- I thought once you get that surge you ovulate in like 36 hours , so by my temps I am trying to figure out when I really O'd. Yea, sometimes the OPKs don't seem to work properly. However, you have to base it on that, the temps AND the CM. With your chart, it's hard to distinguish when you O'd because you have fertile CM through CD18. However, FF, "thinks" you O'd then, that's why the coverlines are dotted, and not straight. I personally think that you O'd on CD15, though... and you might have mixed up the CM afterwards....

Opks work for 'some' people, not all. As well as hpts. Don't forget these hormones are secreted into our blood, then make it through the kidneys to finally come out in our urine. If you are being monitored by a RE they will often even ask you, do the opks work for you ? If they don't, they have you come in for bloodwork the week approaching O. Opks also rely on personal interpretation. I prefer the fertility monitor, but even that hasn't always shown ovulation for people who clearly ovulated.
The reason why temping is important is it can confirm O. It should be used with the opks, because of the thermal shift. Your follicules grow in your ovary, when the LH is your body rises past 20 miu's you usually get a LH surge aka positive opk. If the surge continues, your dominant follicule will rupture, releasing an 'egg' . What's left of the follicule...(the shell) remains in your ovary. It's called the corpus luteum and that produces progesterone. If your temps are under 97, chances are progesterone is not being released and there may not be a corpus luteum (ovulation may not have occurred). Although girlygirl's temps are above 97 cd15 and on...they weren't really much above. I believe cd18 is the true O day because of the significant thermal shift. Charts are sometimes very confusing. You have to wait to see the "pattern". That's why, bding is important to do 'often'. Until the pattern is 'clear'.
Now some people have pcos. They get LH surges, but the follicules don't mature enough to rupture. They are too tiny, so when LH is released they turn to tiny cysts, instead of ovulating releasing an egg. Usually a pcos chart consists of very erratic temps. A person without pcos has a 1:1 ratio between their FSH and LH (follicule stimulation hormone and lutenizing hormone). Someone with pcos can have erratic temps because the ratio is off.
Girlygirl's, chart has a clear thermal shift and I would say definite ovulation occurring cd 18. She would be 13 dpo today. A very good luteal phase as well. Af should be coming today/tomorrow...as soon as your lining sheds. If your temps stay below the coverline that means the corpus luteum's job is done and it's no longer secreting progesterone. If you were to be pregnant your body would produce hcg and that would signal the corpus luteum to keep the progesterone going.
Ok,...with all this being said. I just want to say, that Janice, your chart is great. You probably didn't conceive :( but that's because your Bd timing probably wasn't close enough to O. You can be pretty sure, you ovulated!(Which is obviously so very important when ttc. )

Hi!!!!! Thank you for responding, and yes I think its great to share on here b/c so many of us are charting and CONFUSED with these charts and yes for me to determine CM- I think I have a better understanding though of the CM for next month, and def DID NOT BD near CD18 at all b/c I thought by going by the OPK test I got my surge on CD12 and then DH worked late a lot this month that after CD15 , BDing surely wasnt enough. Ok, Im excited to start again for next month, it is going to be so hard to take my temp and chart- Im going on a cruise, I will have to write everything down and when I get back put it in FF. Ok so CD18 , Im curious to see if its the same next month. Oh boy can you tell Im a newby charter!!!! thanks again Michelle! thanks ladies!!!!

I am sorry TBAF is coming, but I have to say something
Michelle(redstar)-you know I love you my dear friend,
IF it wasnt' for michelle keeping an eye on my charts and temps, there is no way I would have been able to figure out my chart as a newbie. I totally owe this PG to her.
Your time is coming, I just feel it..
