First of all Heather... dont get any ideas about moving away from me!!
And yes, it is all relative but alot of the things are the same prices all over the country like retial prices on cars, designer clothes, etc.
Oh we'd probably see each other more often if I lived in Rochester!
I know you've brought up that point before and I do agree - and thats why I am sad for Kristie in the first place. True cost of living: food and shelter is cheaper but everything else, not so much!

Question? Did the Charlotte people work in the financial industry? I work for a brokerage firm and a few of our clients are in Charlotte. It would be great if we moved down there to a job that was related to what I do now.
I can't wait to visit there in 2 weeks!
I work in non-profit, and my DH works in the corporate insurance industry. I'm not sure of the financial industry salary differences.
Good luck w/ your visit!

we are also one of those people that moved OOS and got major pay raises. It depends on the industry and company that you will work for.
My DH and I are one of "those" people too!

Re: OOT salaries - puts things in perspective
DH is a restaurant manager in Charlotte, his starting pay is the same as any chain restaurant in NY.
He actually gets better monthly bonuses down here because he is in a very busy restaurant.

Me too! I moved Out of State and I make 18K more than I did in NYC. And I am in the same industry and job.

I am in the financial industry. I'm an accountant and I audit financial services companies. I could have relocated just as easily if I audited industrial companies though.
